I bought eyeglasses two years ago -- Lafont frames style anemone #654. These are metal frames with a painted/printed design on them and cost approximately $300 for frames alone. Within months the paint chipped off the metal and frames had to be replaced. Subsequently the printed design wore away and another chip developed. Lafont says tough luck. They have no responsibility beyond the first year of ownership. However what's even more insulting is that when I contacted consumer support I was told to return them to the vendor and ask the vendor to call the contact person in the email from consumer support,

So I travelled a distance to the store where they were purchased with my print out of the email and contact person and the sales chap at the store called and was told if the frames were over a year old then Lafont declined responsibility. Why didn't customer support tell me that? Why did I have to drive 15 miles to find this out? Bottom line -- crappy customer service married to inferior product.

I've been contacted by another rep of Lafont and the frames will be replaced within the next few days. This means I won't have to also replace the very costly varilux lenses with no glare coating! Thank you Lafont for coming through & thank you ripoff report for giving me a voice!
