Lakeshore Marina Held my boat hostage Chattanooga, Tennessee

Lakeshore Marina is refusing to release my boat because of two months of unpaid slip fees and the fact that I do not want to renew my lease for another year. The problem is that I have proven the payment was made with a paid check copy from my bank yet they still won't release my boat. This leaves me with one conclusion; they are attempting to force me to sign a contract for another year? This feels like nothing short of extorsion. In trying to resolve the problem, the owner screamed, cursed at me and hung up on me two different times. the problem is so far unresolved and I am going to be forced to hire legal help to get my boat back. Do not do business with the new owners of this marina.

When the boat was put in "the world's worst marina" my girlfriend was told that after one year we could leave with one month's notice. Unfortunately, the marina was sold to this creature and she refused to honor the original deal. Basically, she made a bad business decision and wanted to take it out on her current customers. When I bought the boat from my girlfriend I decided to no longer keep it at Lakeshore because it really is a horrible place. I paid what was currently owed, but the owner decided to extort me by refusing to release the boat unless I paid out the contract that I never signed.

Why would anyone want to keep a boat at a marina with no place to park if they show up after 5 o'clock due to the drunken patrons at the redneck bar above the marina? If there was a place to park, it would have been under the deck of the bar where boats are subjected to falling cigarette butts and beer bottles. I know for a fact that I was not the only person to complain and be ignored. This is why I wanted to take the boat out of Lakeshore.

Go ahead and put your boat there and see what happens. When I came to pay and get my boat, the new owner's employees told me no one could stand her. As unpleasent as she is I can understand.

The person who wrote this report did not include a few facts as to why there was a problem. First off, the boat which was stored at our marina was owned by another person. At first I was told it was his wife's boat but then the so called wife turned out to be a girlfriend and there was more to that story. bottom line is I did not know who this person was when he came in as he was not listed as an owner of the boat which we were storing under contract. The second problem was that there was a one year contract for the storage of the boat that he apparently purchased from his girlfriend and the individual was not going to honor the contract. Unfortunately the person who filed this report failed to tell you that our records did not show that he owned the boat we had in our possession, he did not provide us with a bill of sale or registration to show that he was the new owner of the boat and he did not want to honor the contract terms which were for one year of boat storage. He said he was going to have his attorney call us which I would have liked to have happen instead of a rip off report as his attorney would have understood the legalities of boat ownership and contract law. The reason this person is angry is he didn't want to pay for a contract which was in place. He instead wanted to take the boat away without paying for the storage costs and without honoring the contract terms for which that boat was subject to.
