Lakeside Marina & Resort - Owner Jim Dunn Raw Sewage, Unethical, False Advertisement, Thief, Compulsive Liar, ScumBag... Eutawville South Carolina
My wife and I rented a 62' houseboat at Lakeside Marina & Resort, which included a Pontoon Boat for daily use since the houseboat was permanently docked, for the week of 05/24/14 to 05/31/14 for $1300.00. Everything was paid in advance, was done over the telephone and through email after receiving pictures (that looked great) and several conversations with Jim Dunn and his assistant assuring us how great everything was.
Upon arrival, we basically went into shock! The houseboat was disgusting, wreaked of mold and s***, was dirty, just nasty... I don't really have the words to explain it properly. The sewage was draining from the houseboat directly into the lake. We immediately located and talked to Jim Dunn, who tried to tell us how awesome it was, including the non working toilet, broken grill, stained floors and walls, dripping air conditioning on the main bed, etc.. We explained that we were not even close to happy, he offered to rent us a 38' camper located near the houseboat. Problem was, the campers' septice tank was also overflowing into the lake. Not to mention that no Pontoon was available.
We made calls trying to find another place to stay while waiting for my wifes parents to arrive from Indiana. Basically stayed up all night. Went down to the office in the morning to get our money back. 8 other people were in line trying to get money back as well, the police ended up being called. After an hour of yelling and screaming, Jim Dunn refunded our money onto our credit card, which took 3 days to post because of the holiday. During that time period, he couldn't remember the lies he told to anyone and continually changed his story.
We did find a great cabin on the water at Santee State Park for a fraction of what we would have paid at this dump. My wife did a video showing the conditions as well as the raw sewage draining from the houseboat and the campsite into Lake Marion (ww.facebook.com/photo.php?v=697607303607781&set=vb.100000755542652&type=2&theater)
Today I contacted the South Carolina DNR as well as the EPA. This place needs to be closed...
