Several weeks ago I visted the Laguna Hills store of Lamps Plus.  They did not have the lamp in stock that I wanted, so they agreed to have it shipped to my home.  I paid with my credit card.  The lamp arrived promptly.

Several weeks later I decided that I wanted to order a second, identical lamp for my home, so I telephoned the store.  I was told that they now had a lamp in stock, and they would place my name on the box and place it behind their counter and hold it for me, but only if I gave them my credit card number.  (The sales representative implied that they only had one such lamp in stock.)  I then gave them my credit card number, which was a big mistake.

I went the same day to the store, and they could not find the box with my name on it.  After looking a short time, the clerk found another lamp in front of the counter, but without my name on the box.  The clerk rang up the sale using my credit card.

When I received my credit card statement several days ago, I discovered that I was charged twice!  First, based on my telephone call and second, when I picked up the lamp.

After a number of calls over two days, Lamp Plus still has not agreed to refund the overcharge.  I am being interrogated by the clerk as if I bought two identical lamps the same day and that I am attempting to defraud the store.  The inference that I am being dishonest is quite apparent, and each telephone discussion is similar to interrogation by a police officer.  The clerk is asking the identical questions over and over again!  I may have been stupid trusting an employee of Lamps Plus, but I am not a fool.

The harassment by Lamps Plus in their telephone discussions is completely unethical, improper and uncalled for.  I don't appreciate such treatment.  If a lamp is missing in inventory, it is apparent to me that this is a case of employee theft.  I believe I was setup by Lamps Plus -- who is ultimately responsible.  Don't trust any employee at Lamps Plus with your credit card number!  If you have been victimized, Lamps Plus will attempt to escape liability.
