It was about the 13th of April and so we decidied to get on the net and look for cars. We wanted to look for a certain type and color of Honda Accord. The only place we could find it was at Larry H. Miller Honda in Murray,Utah. So we called the dealership to check to see if it was still there, and it was.

We called and made an appointment, and then drove almost 3 hours to go and see this car. We arrived at the dealership and soon saw lots of saleman out front. I stopped and asked for Wayne and one of them told me he was inside. So my wife stayed in the car and I went to try and find Wayne.

I soon found him inside helping another customer, and he could tell, I was looking for him and asked if I was David, and I said yes. He said he would be right with me and so I waited, and then he wanted me to start to fill out paper work. I asked him very nicely if I could see the car first? Which in my way of thinking should have been okay? He said sure and he would have it brought up front, and I told him I would start to fill out the paper work out in the car.

I went out to fill it out and then he came out and said he was busy and he would have someone come out and show us the car,so I waited and waited and then I asked again if I could see the car and still I could not see the car. I finally got tired of all the run around and pulled forward and asked one of the salesman, if they would like to make some money? They all jumped at the chance.

Then one asked me what I was looking for and he said he knew where the car was and started to head toward the car. The one called Wayne was right on our heels and so was the so called owner, who was very ignorant and rude to us. I did get to see the outside of the car , but that was all and then the fun started. The Owner who made sure I knew he was Russian, made the comment that he would never sell the car to me! and then I started to get mad and said I had never in my whole life had been treated the way they treated me and my wife.

Then I said they where a bunch of a-holes, and then he said the car would go know place and he would never give up the car to me or anybody else. I said that is fine I would just go to another dealer and buy it. He said that was fine except he would never let the car go out to any dealer. Well to make the story short,we went home after traveling 6 hours both ways and faxed the Honda Corporation, and filed a complaint. I just want everyone to know that it is a very unfriendly dealership, and to never do business with them ever!

Just to top the story off,we went up to Idaho Falls, Idaho and bought a new Honda Accord, just like the one we saw down there in Murray, Utah, except in grey, and the dealership in Idaho Falls treated us with respect, and is a great dealership and I highly recommend them. Any dealership that treats its customers like dirt, needs to lose the Honda name. The Larry H. Miller Honda dealership is the poorest dearship in the whole west and I will never send anybody there ever!

I too am a bit confused by the initial report for this company. I have purchased several vehicles from Larry Miller Honda in Murray, I have always been treated fairly and kindly. Even when we were having a difficult situation with them they returned the vehicle in question with no further problem. That was a used vehicle that they had taken on trade, the customer who traded it was not upfront about it and it had many problems. They just took it back and refunded our money, apologizing all the way. Furthermore the Russian guy that you speak of is a person that I know and he is very nice and friendly. There must have been some kind of misunderstanding. He however is not the owner, Larry Miller is obviously the owner.

I would recommend this dealership to anyone, I also have all of my service performed there even though it is 30 minutes from my house and there are closer dealers. I love their service department, they are always prompt, friendly, and it is very easy to get things done there. They dont pressure you into doing things that you dont need to have done either. They just do what you ask and have fair prices. As to the personal attack on LHM character, I dont know how warranted that is due to the fact that he was not involved directly with this incident. He may have had some say in it, but without knowing all of the facts how does this really reflect on his character? How do we really know that these Females were not behaving in a manner that caused problems. That is a very small and uninformed arcticle to be basing that assumption off of. Sometimes it is just easier and cheaper to settle a case than to go through the entire lengthy trial, maybe that is what happened, it really doesn't say.

I dont know Mr. Miller personally, however he has done alot of good for the local community and seems to be a man of class and integrity. I feel that his dealerships are ran appropriately, I have been to several others and have had horrible experiences, however with this one dealership in question it has always been wonderful! I am in no way affiliated with this company, my glowing review is solely out of my experience with this dealership in question. I love my current Honda Ridgeline that I purchased from them at nearly there cost. Great Deals!!

Just a few thoughts to this rip off report.

First thing, I agree some thing else must of happened at your visit with the dealership. Any one that knows any thing about the car business knows that no sales person is going to turn away selling a car for no reason (that is how your story sounded like it happened). That is how those people make money.

Second thing, Larry H Miller being a "world class p***k" is the most uneducated comment I have ever read! I have lots of friends that work for Larry H Miller and last time I checked jerks don't pay for their employees children's COLLEGE! You should really look into things like that before you judge a person because of a couple of his employees.

As someone that purchased a car from Larry H Miller in March of this year, I must say that I had the exact opposite experience. Going in, I anticipated LHM not doing what the smaller guys would do just because of who he is. I did it all via the internet, showed up and like you the salesman was busy. However, within 10 minutes, another person on his team was working with me and started the paperwork. Like you, the Honda I wanted was specific and they had to go the extra mile to get it for me - they drove to the Ogden Honda and made a deal with that dealer, and yet LHM still honored the internet quote. I was extremely surprised with my overall experience at Larry H Miller. But when I read your story, I think I put more effort in organization than perhaps you did? You had to drive 3 hours, but it appears you hadn't done all the communication needed prior to your departure?

Your story is hard to follow and its difficult to decipher what exactly happened? Why would the Russian out of the blue say he wouldn't sell it to you? You offer no real explanation for how it got to that point? Why would he care if you opted to try and get another non-busy salesman involved? That makes me wonder what part of the story is missing?

I've had bad experience with their service dept. after the purchase, but when the service manager found out, he personally called me and spent about 30 minutes on the phone with me to make sure he knew how they had failed me and how they could make it right.

My experience with LHM has been so positive, that I felt compelled to take the time to register here and rebutt your experience. I expected to be treated like just another one of the masses at LHM. That hasn't been the case. They have shown me why he has so many successful dealerships. I got an unbeatable deal and care after the sale has been exceptional.

His dealerships sell decent cars, it's just their customer service that sucks. Unfortunately, you drove from Idaho Falls to find out. You did the right thing by telling them to stick it.
Miller has a reputation of being dirty. But he owns half the Salt Lake valley so no one can touch him.
He recently lost a huge sexual harassment lawsuit.

Here is the story:

Denver- A jury in federal court in Denver, Colorado today returned a $3.175 million verdict in a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by two female managers against The Larry H Miller Group, owner of more than 35 car dealerships nationwide.

The lawsuit, filed in 2003, charged the car dealership with subjection two of its female managers to sexual harassment by a general manager, who repeatedly tried to touch a female finance director, made lewd and inappropriate sexual comments to her, referred to her business meetings with the female comptroller as "cookie breaks," and threw her Christmas cards at her when she told him to stop trying to touch her.

After the finance director and the camptroller reported this treatment to human resources, the Vice President of Operations for the Automotive Division, Tony Schnurr, ordered a general manager to get rid of the women, calling them "troublemakers and b***es," one witness told the jury.

Larry H Miller, who operates several car dealerships in Colorado, is a controversial Utah businessman, well known as the owner of the NBA's Utah Jazz. Miller is also the owner of a variety of other business ventures including Prestige Financial, Jordan Commons, Larry H Miller Megaplex Theatres, KJZZ-TV, and the EnergySolutions Arena, previously called "Delta Center".
These women were represented in court by the Ryan Law firm and Traylor Law Firm LLC.

End -

The guy is a world class p***k. Anyone wanting to buy a car from him should go ANYWHERE else.

These car dealer salesmen employ a bunch of stunts to attempt to make their cars "seem" to be in short supply and very hard to get. The salesman trys to convince them of its rarity. He trys to create anxiety in people over the car. Get it before its gone. Because if it works, some people will pay a higher price. They're trying to appeal to peoples inbred need to feel special and above the crowd. This salesman just overdid it. He went a bit to far in trying to say he'll never sell to you. Your beneath owning that car. But it backfired and you told him to shove it and walked out. BRAVO. Perfect response.
