You should, at all costs, avoid Last Chance Garage. I used to trust LCG and its owners Andrea and Doug Caruolo. But, only months after my elderly dad died, they took advantage of my mom (a new widow). Then, while mom was caring for me in the hospital (with the same disease that killed my dad), they partnered with an auto body shop (Ultimate Autobody) to defraud the NC Administrative Courts and NCDMV to steal and sell my car.
The Wake County District Court wanted to resolve the administrative court's concerns that the Caruolos and Last Chance Garage committed fraud. Instead of being honest and stating the facts of how they helped lie to the NC Courts and NCDMV, the Caruolos and Last Chance Garage apparently told an administrative judge I was mentally ill. Yes, depressed from a very real orthopedic disability, extended hospitalization & my dad's horrific death.
But Caruolos just didn't want facts to come out. And they were willing to lie, smear me just to keep the facts hidden.
The facts were that after an automobile accident, my car was towed to Last Chance Garage. While I was in the hospital and fighting for my life, Andrea Caruolo called my mom and asked if she could buy my car. Mom pushed back tears to say "no."
Apparently Andrea Caruolo was not satisfied with my mom's answer. Andrea Caruolo partnered with the auto body shop (Ultimate Autobody) to make sure my car was stolen. Andrea Caruolo was apparently involved in Ultimate Autobody shredding the check I sent for payment. Then they lied to NC Courts and NCDMV to say I never paid.

Last Chance Garage is named in this complaint as a result of REFERRING Ms Handy to a body shop. Ms Handy car was in an accident, she had her car towed to Last Chance Garage even though we are not an Auto Body Repair shop. She was referred to several auto body repair shops and chose one of the 3 she was referred to by LCG. Her car was towed to the body shop where the negotions for her car repairs were conducted with the representatives of that shop. She was asked if she was interested in selling her car, it was a manual shift and she was no longer able to drive it. She declined.
Under NC law if a person does not pay for their repairs and does not respond to requests for payment after 10 days a shop is REQUIRED to file an unclaimed vehicle report and if there is still no response, the shop can file with NC Department of Motor Vehicles for the title and the right to sell the car to recoup the cost of repairs. This is in fact what happened. The body shop in questions never received a check for payment, Ms Handy never could prove that any check had even been sent, her bank could not produce copies of the check she supposedly had sent from it and no checks were cashed.
This issue was ruled on by the NC Court system and the body shop was found to have followed all proper procedures. They did sell the car in question, but only after following proper procedures.
Ms Handy's law license was taken away from her by the court system in Chicago. She has sued many organizations including Duke Hospital. She seems to find troubles with any organiztion she comes in contact with. Check her history out for yourself.
