Law Firm of Macey, Aleman & Searns is a total scam. We were sceptical, but desperate and took a chance on them and got burned. Chicago, Illinois

We trusted the original person we spoke to as he had good knowledge of the modification process. He stressed that we should be done with everything between 90 and 120 days. Our days were to begin after our initial payment. We paid our up front fees in 3 monthly payments.Towards the end of the 3rd month we had not heard anything and no progress had been made.We called and were then told the days start after the entire retainer fee had been paid. That was our first problem. The payment schedule was set up to pull $750 every month thereafter on the 15th of the month to stay in our house. On the first draft they actually made two withdrawals on the same day of $500 each.I called and complained and they credited $500 back.I did not mention to them it should have been $750 as nobody would. They have steadily pulled out $500 every month to date and that has been the only thing they have been consistent at.I felt all along that we gave them an open ended check, but we also considered the fact that we could not rent anywhere for less than that.We should have listened to our gut.

We have sent all documentation numerous times via fax, and email. Each time we got the same response. They claimed to not have received them, only got some but not all, some pages not signed, not in their inbox, etc. Whatever. My wife and I are very thorough and get fax confirmations on everything we send, and everyone else including myself receives all our emails.I sure found it interesting and coincidental that this happened only with their place of business. We would later find out that the modification got refused because of a lack of paperwork being sent in on time. They were just buying time all along and stretching it out to continue to collect the monthly fees.

Another thing is that they constantly change our representative. We have had 5 different "negotiators" assigned to us and all of them happened overnight. All of this was so familiar as we tried to get a loan modification through our lender before turning to a "law firm" and experienced the same things.

Today I tried to call my "negotiator", Chris McCay, but have not once spoken to him or received a reply to one single email. The phone system is rigged and every extension has the same verbatim message on it stating not to call more than once, and we will return all emails within 24 hours and how they are constantly on the phone. What? With who? Not me. The message is read from a script which solidifies my thoughts that this company if it really even exists in Chicago is a total rip off.
