Law Office Of Mitchell N. Kay M.N. Kay false report of overdue debt causing loss of credit and drop in credit score. New York, New York
I was recently denied for a credit card and was informed by the card company that it was due to evidence of serious negligence in payment on my credit report. I found this suspicious and ordered up a report to find that the Law Office of Mitchell N. Kay (M.N. Kay) had a 70$ claim against me.
Their claim is that I have a 70$ debt to T-Mobile, initially from February 2009. Their report says I was given 1-month's notice and that I ignored it. Thus they marked that I had been grossly negligent with a seriously over-due payment.
Here's the catch: My phone (indeed T-mobile) is a sub-account in my brother's name, under his social and credit. My social security number isn't even in the account info. Neither of us have ever received a notice of debt from T-mobile or this law office.
When I called these law offices to find out what was up, I was met by a voice that didn't seem to have a great grasp of English. Indeed, it spoke a certain few phrases in perfect english but couldn't give me any other answers outside of these rehearsed lines. When I tried to look up the charge against me I was told they needed my whole SSN. I provided them with the account number for the charge, my full name, and my phone number but to no avail. They demanded my full SSN - obviously never a smart thing to do, especially over the phone.
Because of this false charge against me, my credit score has dropped to 550. I am at wit's end trying to have this charge removed.
I will be sending them a letter requesting a Debt Validation. Hopefully, this will help clear my good name. If not, I am in search of a class action against these offices, as it seems there are a large number of claimants.
