I came home today (August 12, 2008) to find a letter in my mailbox from "Law Offices Of Mitchell N. Kay, P.C." claiming I owe $496.49 for a T Mobil bill that was $159 and change, back in May of 2005!!! Mind you, the account was paid in full back then and closed! However, if I pay within 30 days, I will only have to pay the settlement amount of $297.89.

I did call the number provided on the letter and spoke with a man who was not helpful at all - and made it clear that I needed to take care of this debt. When I asked what cell phone number this was in regards to, he told me he did not have that information -so I asked to speak to a supervisor, who was quite aggressive and kept cutting me off, then flat out told me to "shut up and listen" and when I said to him "excuse me?!" he told me to "Have a nice day" and hung up on me.

I called the number back, asked for a supervisor, the woman told me she was the only one who could help me, and when I insisted on speaking to a supervisor again, she put me on hold, then came back on and claimed to have been a supervisor. As I was on hold, I went on the internet to see if I can get a local number for this 'law firm' rather than the '888' number, and when I googled this law office, I discovered a few articles on the same exact situation with another woman, and this law firm and apparently having to collect a debt on behalf of T-Mobile! And she stated how they had the last 4 digits of her social, however an incorrect address - so as I searched some more, I discovered some more of the same situations with this law firm.

I have no choice but to believe this is a scam and/ or even possibly identity theft!!! What debt collector would tell a customer to shut up and listen, then hang up on them, and not even have all relevant information in regards to the debt that they are attemtpting to collect on!?!?!?!? I believe this is a fraud and should be investigated!!!!

- 3/23/2009 - I just want to say, that I too am being scammed by these 2 Companies shes mentioned T-Mobile and this Law Firm from New York ( Law Offices of Mitchell N Kay,PC ), I'm hiring my Attorney and recording all information on paper, and will also be forwarding in Person all documenation to this case to the FBI's Office of Racketerring Division for their Investigation, mainly because these companies have sent these Fraudulent Bills thru the US Mail, with a Postal Mark on them and a Date, which constitutes "MAIL FRAUD", research it, go to a law library or US Government Book store or a University Law Library and research what constitutes Mail Fraud and Fraud !!! This may also be a great segment for an CBS 60-Minutes Show or an ABC's Primetime Investigation Show !!!! I will NOT stop till this company is brought down and brought to Justice - The War is Now On !
