How I wish I had looked at this website before impulsively responding to a TV ad! The Singer Lazer Storm vacuum sounded good in the ad, but the entire experience has been a nightmare.

First, the automated order number (800-591-8395) gave extremely confusing information regarding shipping and handling charges, multiple order options, and "free" add-ons. There was no way to access a live agent to clarify. After a couple tries, I hung up, thinking the order had not been completed and would not be processed. Wrong! I even called my credit card company to forewarn them about possible fraud. Sure enough, a couple weeks later Fed-ex dropped a package at my house. Then the real difficulty started.

Meanwhile, my Visa bill arrived with not one but 2 charges on it. Both unrelated to anything quoted. I called the number listed on the bill for the company and told them in no uncertain terms I would not accept the charges. They told me they had accidentily shipped four vacs (not the two promoted in their ad) and would take back the extras if I wanted to ship them at my expense. I emphatically refused and eventually got assurances from the representative that she would credit my account that day. I then made arrangements for Fed-ex to return the entire shippment.

Bottom line? To date there has been NO credit from whatever name they are using this week. I have tried hundreds of times to contact them by phone and get only busy signals. To add insult to injury, my new visa bill just arrived and there is ANOTHER charge on it from them! How can I fix this?

Direct From Singer

#2Consumer Suggestion

I received this directly from the Singer Corp. this morning and hope that it will help you. NEVER again will I ordered something from the TV. I've done it twice over the course of 30 years and been burned both times.

"Thank you for contacting the Singer Sewing Company.

A company called Tactica/IGIA manufactures the home cleaning appliance that you refer to. On September 22, 2005, Singer terminated its License Agreement with Tactica International and filed a lawsuit to stop Tactica from further sales of Singer branded products, including the Lazer Storm vacuum. On September 29, the court issued a temporary restraining order against Tactica. The order prohibits Tactica from selling or advertising products bearing the Singer name.

Tactica has set up both a toll free number and an email address dedicated to consumers who have purchased the Singer Lazer Storm and have an issue to resolve concerning this purchase.

Toll free phone: 1- 800-974-8590
(Initially this line may be extremely busy, we ask that you attempt calling it at least a couple of days. We are confident that your call will be answered.)
