We recieve a bill from our Discover card Friday May 17,2002.In the billing was listed-LD Calling Plan Carlsbad California-they charged us $61.02 for thier service,i didn't know what it was till i looked it up on the internet and found this web page of rip offs, we do not have a calling service at all, we only use calling cards from Sam's club,we do not use any service that we would get billed from.i never used my credit card on the internet at all, that is something i will not do,so how did they get the card number to bill us.I called our credit card compay,it is all under investigation, they said they contacted the company, it is a week and they did not hear from them, but the law is they have to give them three weeks to respond, this is not right that they can get away with it,what can be done?

it Happened again. the first one was March 28,2002 Planet Earth Communications for $61.02 the second one was May 23,2002 LD Calling Plan for $61.02 and the third one was May 24,2002 AMR*LD Calling Plan for $61.02,finally there was a phone number toll free listed 1-800-429-1707 Carlsbad CAlifornia,Our Credit card company took the first charge off.

I told my husband if they are an honest company they will not be open on a Sunday,i said call that number and see what happens,he did, well not suprizeingly a lady answered the phone, mind this was today Sunday time 5 pm and they answered the phone, my husband told them his name and our state only and said we never ordered their service and never heard of them before and why was our credit card being charged, she did not ask for( an account number ) all she said was yes we have your name but the service was cancled,my husband told her why was it charged again if you cancled it, no answer was given, she said they would be taken off our credit card the next day Monday, he told her he was calling our credit card company tomorrow to be sure it was and that it had better not happen again or we would bring fraud charges aginst them, then this lady amitted that all three company names was the same bussiness.

I'm still scratching my head wondering how did she know who my husband was without an account number to look it up and find him on the papers just by his name and Pennsylvania only, puzzeling isn't it?

Most places requires and address, phone number, account number to be sure who they are billing or looking up to see if everything matches. They must have a mind better than a computer or anythign available. This has to stop now there has to be away.

We recived word from our Discover Card company that they took the charges from our statment three weeks after the charges were made that they recieved from Ld Calling of Carlesbad California ,we recieved the statement that they did remove it,but will we be charged by the LD Calling Plan again?. I guess we got to waite and see,i think charges should be brought aginst this company to stop them from pulling fruad on me or any other person in the future and to remburse people that had to pay the billings and to remburse all the long distance calls for people that had to call the calling card compenies to get things taken care of.If people like us would do such a thing we would be in prison,i think it is time something is done with all people that is involved with this company.

The same scam showed up on my Visa statement this month - two $62.01 charges for early April and early May. There is a 1-888 number for the company printed on the statement and I immediately called it. The first time I got voice mail and left a message for someone to return my call. When I didn't receive a return call I called again and got through to a live person. He didn't act at all surprised that I was calling complaining about billings I never authorized and readily agreed to credit my Visa for $124.02.

Just for insurance I called Visa and told them that I was protesting the charges and would send a letter to that effect immediately, and did so.

I'm going to give it until early next week then call Visa and check my account for the credit. (Pardon me if I don't hold my breath until it is posted.)

Bottom line, call the company and protest the charges, ask for verification of any authorization by you, and call your credit card company and protest the charges to them. Once the charges are in dispute with the credit card company they usually are not interest bearing entries.
