My mom had a Best Buy credit card (Household Financial Servces) for a few years. When she passed away in June 2003, Household turned over her account to LDG Financial services, a collection agency. Since I was the executor of the will, this account was paid in full to LDG and I have a letter here dated June 10, 2003 that the account was settled in ful and all collection activity has ceased.

However, I am still getting collection notices on this and I called and spoke to Tammy Graves, Account Manager who signed the "settled" letter and asked why this had not been reported to Household. She said it would be taken care of. Now, once again, a year and a half later, this has been sold off to yet another collection agency, ERI Financial Services. I cannot understand why LDG refuses to notify the creditor that this account has been paid.

This has already happened once before that it was sold off and I had faxed a copy of this letter to cease collections and I was told that LDG must report the payment, which they didn't. Did LDG keep the money? I would sure like to know. As far as I cam concerned, this is fraud.

OK, well, I called LDG Financial and Tammy Graves no longer is there. A man got on the phone who does the Household Financial Services accounts and he sounded like he just got out of third grade. When he got on the phone, all I heard was "uhhh, hold on, k?" Then, after giving him the info, he said "do you know what happened with this account?". (Isn't that what I'm trying to find out.....what happened?) That was it, he was befuddled. He put me on hold, someone else who was very rude got on the phone and started yelling at me that they reported the payment and I have to now deal with HFS. I told him that I just got off the phone with HFS and they have received no correspondence or payment info from LDG. He told me "too bad, we reported it" and hung up. Fortunately, the person at HFS had me fax my letter to her and she used that as comfirmation of the payment.
