Leaders Merchant Services lied about monthly cost and a annual fee! will not let me out of contract! Calabasas California
The sales person lied about monthly cost and a annual fee! I just got a $99 annual fee . When I specifically Ask the sales women were there any other fees then the $15 if my card quota was not met. And she said NO I would have no fees at all except the $35.00 for the terminal rental. So if I made $1500 on my card I would be charged nothing at all and if I did not meet the quota the $15 penalty would be prorated . it was all untrue! I have been charged $25 a month plus $15 plus the $99. I asked them about this and The man asked me did I read the small print (his exacted quote) I said so it is o.k. for the sales rep to lie and he said she made the Sale didn't she! He said it is her job to sell and my job to read the contract. And They will not let me out without paying $350. I called them 7/30/08 at 10.26pm

Leaders Merchant Services would like to apologize to this merchant for any misunderstandings she may have with our company. LEADERS practices a full disclosure policy in our contract so we are confused as to why this merchant feels we charged her fees to which she did not agree.
This merchant has had an open account with LEADERS since May 27, 2008. This merchant was not charged any monthly fees for the month of May and since her account opened, she was charged a monthly fee of $15, an annual fee of $99 and a onetime non-bankcard application fee of $25.00. The annual fee and the non-bankcard application fee are clearly stated in her contract and are not charged on a monthly basis.
LEADERS would also like to apologize for the service she received from our customer service representative. The fees the merchant is referring to are not in fine print, but are clearly written in the contract in 12 pt font. It is, of course, the merchant's responsibility to read what they are signing as with any contract. LEADERS would like this merchant to be happy with her account and to process with us so we invite her to contact our consumer complaint resolution specialist Cindy Schwerdtfeger @ 877-538-3377 Ext 137 to discuss her fees and her account further.

You May have a way out

Jeannie W. and others may have a way out. I was told my account with the same company was just closed yesterday. This is after a short discussion with a lawyer, a couple of phone calls, a few faxes and a conversation with my bank. I should no longer be charged the $35.00 rental fee and the other $30.00 for the merchant account. Bottom line is the victim needs to know that (I was told in my case - Texas), they can't enforce the 30 month contract; Im NOT in CA. I didn't tell the company that I knew that. If they lied, I'll submit an update.
If Jeanne W. is interested I can provide the steps that I took.
