LeanSpa, LLC Beware: LeanSpa's sneaky "offer" quickly picks your pocket of at least $79.99 Orange, Connecticut

First LeanSpa draws you in with clever advertising disguised as news reporting on their acai berry blend weight-loss tablets. They promise a free trial for a month's supply of the product, plus free detox tablets and a free gift pedometer.

Sounds nice, but you're supposed to use the product for an entire month to determine its effectiveness. At the same time--noted in small print, inconspicuously toward the end of the 'offer'--is a a note that to avoid being charged $79.99, you must cancel your order within 14 days and obtain a return merchandise authorization number and return the unused portion of acai tablets (plus the extra 'gifts').

In my case, I did not study the offer closely enough, and assumed that I'd have a month to try the product and that, if I didn't like it, I could then cancel out, return the product, and avoid the $79.99 fee. In my case--and this was my experience only--after swallowing the huge tablet, I became nauseous and had a headache for 4 to 5 hours. I tried taking the tablet again on seven different days--taking a day off between because of the nasty nausea/headache effect--to see if my system might come to accept it, but no luck. I certainly did give the product a fair trial, though.

I called LeanSpa 'Customer Service' 11//1/10 and explained my situation to someone called Rochelle and asked if--since the product did not work out for me (nausea/headache)--I could get a refund; I'd return unused tablets and gifts. She said there was nothing that could be done since I'd gone beyond the 14-day trial period. It was that cut-and-dried.

Bottom line: tricky offer, zero customer service. No comment on the product itself is intended.

LeanSpa Resolves Refund Issue with Gracious Customer Service

#2Author of original report

Fri, November 05, 2010

Having read another Ripoff Report on the LeanSpa acai offer written by another LeanSpa customer who'd initially had trouble getting a refund for this product, but then contacted LeanSpa manager, Chann Kin, I decided to try this route (but without really expecting much).

Chann Kin agreed that customer service rep Rochelle should have been more customer-oriented. He agreed to refund the $79.99 charge. He also said he'd be speaking with LeanSpa customer service/call center personnel on how to treat customers with more understanding and less rigidity.

I am quite satisfied with this result and hope that Chann Kin successfully gets his message across to his crew so other customers will not experience the sort of frustration I've described in my initial report.
