I bought Rosetta Stone's Arabic Levels I & II for my daughter (who was in the Navy at the time) from Learn4LessOnline, and have had nothing but problems trying to get what I ordered and paid for.

I ordered this product on June 5, 2005, but after weeks of hearing nothing, I finally received a confirmation that it would be shipped. Of course, it never arrived. So I called and e-mailed again - another promise of shipping, but nothing delivered. After many of these cycles, 3+ months later, the product finally arrived.

Unfortunately, things only got worse: the Level I CD had Japanese lessons on it (even though it was marked Arabic), and the software would not work with my daughter's computer (I have an older version of the software which was the only way we could see what was on the CDs).

I've sent tons of e-mails and left nasty messages over the past 2 months, trying to get a replacement for the Level I CD, but there's been no response so far.

As part of this report, I would have urged you not to use this company - except now their Web site is gone as well, so I can't even suggest that you avoid their site. But if you ever do business with a company that has Michelle Parker, Terrell Boyle or Damien O'Rourke in it, be very careful . . .

There's a lesson here. When you see the first problem with a company, cancel your payment and end the transaction immediately.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, October 17, 2005

I read these complaints daily. If there's one common theme among them all, it's this.

The customer will order from the company. The company will not respond at all to the order. They don't send an email, or a confirmation, or a thank-you. Nothing. The customer has no idea if their order was even received.

People, this is NOT the way a reputable company does business. How long would you sit in a restaurant if every one of the staff completely ignored you?

Do NOT put up with this kind of behavior! Just look at how it ALWAYS turns out. Let's use this complaint as an example.

I ordered this product
weeks of hearing nothing
it never arrived
another promise
but nothing delivered
things only got worse
I've sent tons of e-mails
no response

This is what ALWAYS happens. So what's the lesson?

Cut your losses at the FIRST sign of a problem.

No conformation within 24 hours? Cancel the order. Chargeback the credit card.
Order doesn't arrive within 7 to 10 days? Cancel. Chargeback.
Order not correct? You got it! Cancel. Chargeback.

Do not go on for weeks and weeks letting somebody play you for a fool. It always turns out as a loss for the customer.

It works the same way in life. When you see a bad situation, cut your losses in the very beginning. Do not spend years in a bad relationship hoping things will get better. They never do.

Time and money are too short to waste on some loser company who either can't confirm or that has absolutely no intention of ever sending your order in the first place.

So much fraud could be eliminated if people simply refused to give these scam companies the benefit of the doubt for week after week.
