Glad (and very sorry) to hear that there are some other victims of this fraudulent scheme perpetrated by Lease Finance group, a division of CIT and the merchant service companies that are in cahoots with them. They got me also and my story is very simalar to the rest of the complaints you might be reading.

I am a small business owner, I was contacted in November of 2002 by National Translink Corporation about setting up a merchant account to accept payment by credit cards for my services. Since it was a home-based internet business, I figured accepting credit cards was probably a good idea. The telemarketer set up an appointment for us to meet with one of their representatives.

Rule number one: never invite a vampire into your house! The meeting was leaning towards high pressure to accept. Mark Marcanio of Midwest Chargeservice Inc explained all of the benefits and answered the questions that we had. Everything seemed on the level.

Mr Marcanio even explained about the leasing of the equipment and the fact that it was a 2 year contract which somehow turned out to be 4 years. Knowing what I know about products like cellular phones, a 2 year contract (which always have some kind of out-clause) did not seem out of the ordinary. NO mention of Lease Finance Group, CIT, or a non-cancellable lease.

I signed, and received my receipt which is a yellow piece of paper with Midwest Chargeservice, Inc. I did not find out about CIT until 8 months later when we moved the business and they sent a bill, then a late notice, then another bill for 2 months with a penalty fee. I called CIT to find out what these charges were for.

Kim King (probably not her real name) of CIT informed me that they were the lease charges for my POS terminal. I said I never heard of them, she responded, Didn't you read your lease? What lease? I looked high and low for a paper that I never had received.

Well, you probably know the rest of the story...$51.91 per month with no end in sight. I hope that by filing this report it will add more credability to any lawsuit that may be brought against Lease Finance Group, a division of CIT.

Kind of like a recent candidate got caught saying: "These guys are some of the, well, you know, most crooked bunch of liars out there

#2Consumer Suggestion

Hi Andrew,
Yes we have been ripped off. The only difference was, our incomplete paper given by an independant representative was pink. Plus the Representative said we could cancel at anytime. Do you think anyone in there right mind would sign a lease that said NON-CANCELLABLE on it?????

I am currently e-mailing back and forth with a CIT representative claiming that the whole contract was fraudulent. Would you believe, besides Notorized information, they even want a copy of my Driver's License. Just what they need, more personal information!! If not getting my bank account information was not enough.

In this response, I am including what I have included in all the Lease Finance Group Ripoffs. I hope you will consider this information. In addition If you know of any other one who has been duped by CIT, you might want to tell them to do the same. Plus, someone from Tennesse might see your report.

So here it is, and in advance, many thanks--

You may want to send a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission). I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 to the FTC complaint form. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Also, you may want to file with your State Attorney General. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard.

As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: investor.relations@cit.com, corpcomm@cit.com, directors@cit.com,

I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns.

I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California
