I opened a new business last July(2003). During the days that we were getting into setting up and preparing to open our doors, we began to receive phone calls from a company that calls themselves "CIT" Lease Finance Group, out of chicago Illinois. The telemarketer, Brad, a sorrowful soul, began to explain to me how offering credit card service to our customers would double if not more, our per custoomer sales. He went on to say we should not be without it! I responded by telling him that we are just "newe" in this business and that we live in small town USA, In a rural area and that we are not yet sure how the business will be doing.

I told him we were not interested at this time. I told him I did not want to spend money at this time not know what to expect from the customers. He assured me that it was the way to go and I got sick in my stomach that he would not let up. I should have hung up but being nieve as I am, I wanted to really know more about how this system worked. We hung up.

The next day the phone rang again, it was him again. Still trying to encourage me to sign up for Visa, Mastercard, Discovery etc. I still let him know that I was unsure at this time. He wouldn't take no for an answer, and he even had another rep call me and tell the whole speal again. Evidently he figured he was losing ground with me, cso he got another fast talking woman on the phone and she convinced me to try it. Brad called back and "congratulated me on making the "right" decision.

He proceeded to explain other things to me and at the same time taking up all my precious time I am trying to get my business ready. He said we should get it going asap and that he could air express the papers to me "without" additional charge, for me to sign.

I told him that if we were not pleased with this deal and that if it was not popular with our customers or if it was not profitable for us to have. Then we would want to cancel it after so long. I told him I would try it for 30-60 days and to that he said"no problem!" Ms. Olson, just give us a thirty day advance in writing that you want to end the service.

At that, I felt confident that it would cost me some, but then I could cancel and be done with it. I did decide after a couple months, after only using it 3 times, that I would cancel, so I sent in the letter as they requested I do, and they sent me a letter regretting that I had made that decision, but thanks for doing business with us and call anytime if I want to start it up again in the future.

At this point I figured I made a right decision, until all HELL broke loose and they began to bill my bank account monthly as they were doing. They even took a closed account fee out of it. I had to stop all payments and I lost some of the money.

Now they are calling me on my "home phone" 6- 8 times per day to harrass me about me oweing them lease money and that my contract was binding for 4 years at $59.00 per month. They want me to pay them a lesser amount of $2,350.00 plus return the equipment to call it done. That's a 15% discount.! Aren't they nice and generous? I have contacted a lawyer, they said I am stuck because I signed the lease.

This company is hard a*s, cold hearted, money hungry and scum of the earth. They have taken away my good feelings of the business and put a sliver in my thumb. They hire off the street telemarketers, teach them pressure sales without concealing the
whole truth" of the cituation. Their lease agreement is so printed so small you have to use a magnifying glass to read it.

Unfortunately, I thought I had all the info I needed from the phone conversations, so did not read"the fine" print. This is a good lesson for me.

I was so happy to find RIP-OFF REPORT WITH CIT LISTED IN IT. It made me know I was not alone and I am also sending this report to the Better Business Bureau for what it's worth. I would appreciate any correspondence regarding this company and How I might get them off my back.

Sincerely,

Joanne

File your Report with FTC

Hi,
You may want to send a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission) . I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01 to the FTC complaint form. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Also, if possible, please scan & send copies of these documents to me at [DELETED]. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard.

As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: investor.relations@cit.com, corpcomm@cit.com, directors@cit.com,

I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns.

I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California
