Just want to warn people about Lee Auto and Maine Auto Credit. Both me and my girlfriend purchased vehicles from their "special credit program" which is financed through Maine Auto Credit. Right after the warranty ran out on her car (which was only 30 days) the transmission went. When we contacted Lee they said there was nothing they could do and referred us to Maine Auto credit. Well they said they could do nothing as it was a used car and it was our problem. After numerous calls and threatening to call the media they offered to repair the car but add it on to the loan. Yeah real good deal, so we can pay interest on another $3000 for the transmission. Also the ball joints were gone on this vehicle and should never have been inspected that way. Then on our second vehicle we purchased from them (which will no doubt be the last!) right after the warranty ran out the heater core went, which come to find out is going to cost $1000 to replace and a wheel bearing is going (which should have never been inpected either).

I realize they are used cars but was assured that they are gone through and inspected. What a laugh! Two junk cars which are not even safe and should not have been inspected! Then when I contact Maine Auto Credit they say they are not even affiliated with Lee Auto. Hmmm, they are the ones that finance the cars for this program and are located right inside Lee Auto in Westbrook, so you do the math. Anyway I just want to warn people about this scam going on and hopefully something can be done about it.

I must say anyone who buys a Used vehicle enless you buy a extended warrenty are only givin 30days 3000 miles. No National Dealer Franshise would sell a car that doesnt pass State inspections.  I too have bought a vehicle from Lee Special credit. i owe less then 900 dollars on it. I had a couple problems with the vehicle at first but Lee went out of there way to make it right. At the end they couldnt fix it and paid in full no cost to me to send it to a Chyrsler Dealer(Bodwells) who fixed the problem and i have had no problems other then normal wear and tear sence. I would and will buy my next vehicle from LEE Toyota. One Last Thought why would anyone buy one vehicle and haveso many issues  then buy a second from the same place?

I understand your frustration but the dealer has no obligation ot honor an expired warrantee. I would have called them too, but the law is.was on their side.

My experiance was totally differant. I bought a mini van that was nice but developed some serious problems DURING the 30 warrantee. Not only did they keep at it untill it was fixed, they did not charge me the 100 dollar deductible.

Inquiries have advised me that they recently hired a new used warrantee manager and he has turned things down quite a bit.

I highly recommend Lee Auto Credit. I have a nice ride that I could not have got without their services.

Always take a used care to a mehanic for an expection.
