Legacy Boat Dealer, Dania, FL Legacy Marine, Legacy Fisherman, Sea Fox Unprofessional, Liars, Cheap Dania, Florida
I have been seeing and hearing a lot of complaints about Legacy in Dania, FL latey, so I wanted to share my less than desirable experience with this company.
I bought a 19' Sea Fox back in 2004 at the Miami boat show. I gave a down payment and was promised the boat would be available for pick up in 2 weeks. This is where I should have known this company would be trouble because it was 2 months and 2 boat payments later the boat was finally delivered. I actually had to make payments on something I did not have yet.
Finally, when the boat came in, I went to pick it up. I noticed the boat did not come up to speed as it should have. The rep actually told me it was because of the current in the narrow river they are located on. He also said it was because the engine was not brokin it yet. I knew both excuses were B.S., so I just figured I would figure it out. Next, they provided a kit of safety gear and an anchor. This was pointless because they provided a fresh water anchor designed for still water.
When I got home with the boat, I had a mechanic friend look at it. He diagnosed it right away. The engine was fitted with the wrong prop. The engine is a Mercury 115 hp 4 stroke. They installed a 19" prop when it should have been a 17". I replaced the prop and the performance was a night and day difference. Several phone calls, e-mails, and a telephone call to Legacy went unresolved. They refused to take responsibility for improperly propping the engine. They wanted to blame the warehouse....yet, the boat's HIN number comes back to Legacy, not Sea Fox.
In the next year, I had to replace every fitting on the boat installed by Legacy. On the mounts for the splash guard, these super geniouses didn't even use stainless hardware. They installed a depth sounder/fish finder on the console and used NOTHING to water seal the hole. They had to drill a large enough hole to thread the power cable through with the connection fitting. Every time it rained, water was splashed, or boat rinsed, water rained in to the console.
I am very surprised this company still exists. Everything they do and every way they respond seems dirty and underhanded. I will certainly NEVER give any business to them again, and I will always tell others to avoid them. They originally appealed to me because of their cheap prices on Sea Fox's. With boats, you get what you pay for, and I will never buy a Sea Fox again either....even from another dealer.

I am the customer service representative for Sea Fox Boat Co. and would like to apologize for the less than desirable sales experience you went through with one of our dealerships. Due to a flurry of customer service issues like yours, our company chose to not renew Legacy Fisherman's dealer agreement for the 2010 year. Their sales and service territory has been replaced by the Davey Marine Center - a dealership that has been doing an outstanding job living up to our customer service, sales, and service standards. If there is anything specific that you need assistance with, please call our headquarters at (843) 761-6090 and ask for Stewart.
