I signed the contruction agreement o Dec 9, 2013. It promise completion in 11 months after obtaining a building permit. Legacy pulled the permit April 16, 2014. We obtained the C/O April, 1 2015.This is where the fun began. We had over 300 items on the punch list.The final payment was May 26.2017. This was over three years from the issue of the building permit and the three and half years after the agreement.
Repalcement od 13 slider doors due to excessive scrathes
Did not build the Murphy bed to plan resulting in having to order a customized mattress that Legacy agreed to pay half
Both air conditioning units did not work properly for a period of over two years. This generated excessive electric bills when I was away in the summer because the equipment fan continuously ran when the lines were frozen. Legacy made nomerous attempts to repair the problem to know avail. Oct.2017 I replaced both air handlers, compressors, and 0% of the duck work at my expense.
Forgot to install well for irrigation system resulting in huge county water bills.Legacy paid these bills.

I thought it was funny, his lackadaisical answer on why it took over three years to finish after he obtained the building permit. This is why I would not recommend this builder. I guess if you are willing to live with this type of behavior, Legacy Builder is your company. I would also advise taking the time to talk with other customers to hear their horror stories working with Legacy. There is some truth about the air conditioner problem. What he didn't say is the original installer after two years of continuous problems was just incompetent and I removed him from the house. I had a third party come in to try to fix this broken system and try to make it work. Finally I had to put in a new system because you need good air conditioning in Florida.
I didn't bring up the two ceiling leaks in my Dining Room that had to be removed, re sheet rock, skim coated and painted due to the float switches on the upstair air conditoning not working Twice. The problem with Legacy is they don't build in the quality. I had to inspect in the the quality. I was always on the look out for what they would try to sneak by me. I never felt they had my best interest in mind. That is the reason why the house looks good. You need to have a strong will working with this company. I would be happy to take you room to room and show you all of the rework needed to complete this house. That is why it took over three years.

The complainant is best friends with the originator. There is some truth to this complaint but many untruths. The complainant states he paid for HVAC repairs....this is not true....legacy paid for repairs. What he doesnt tell you is the same HVAC contractor selected by the homeowner made a mistake and even though this HVAC contractor stated he would be responsible after the initial repair. Legacy paid yet another invoice to correct the issue. Also stated by complainant the murphy bed was built to the wrong spec. After discussions with the complainant we came to a conclusion that rather than rebuilding the murphy bed we could order a custom mattress to fit which was larger and we split the cost. As for PGT he is correct stating the sliders were scratched. Quite frankly this was a manufacturer problem which the manufacturer didnt correct and legacy builders paid more than 5k to remedy the issue. We do not dispute the home took more time to build than expected....but our warranty is one year and we went back after the second year to correct tile and minor settlement issues at no charge. I can go on explaining but this complainant allowed legacy to show his house numerous times to new clients. We can provide written proof of all the above statements and more if requested. Legacy builds custom one of a kind homes. We are not a production builder. There are challenges with building a custom home and in the building industry. I'd request to see the home in question, it is built correctly and is beautiful .
