I tried using the hotel room phone to place 2 emergency calls when traveling last week. I didn't have cell service, and was stopping due to bad weather. I had to contact my family to let them know what was going on.

I tried 15 times to get thru legacy long distance's automated phone system to make my calls. Each try, I was told to enter my CC# and code#, which i did. I was told the numbers were invalid and to try again. Then, I had to go thru the entire process with the phone system, again.

None of the calls were even connected.

The next day my CC was declined, I contacted the CC company, and was told that legacy long distance had put a $25 hold against my CC for each attempt I made. Legacy then took the dollar amounts from the 'holds' and they went thru as charges on my CC.

There are $500 in charges against my CC from Legacy, that I know of right now. I contacted the CC compancy within 24 hours of calls I tried to make, and today (4 days later), and have started the process to fight the fraudulent charges Legacy made on my account.

Legacy's anwering system didn't mention any charges for using their system, and my calls didn't connect. I did manage to actually speak to a legacy long distance operator once during my attempts to make a call using their system. She was very rude, and wouldn't connect my call.

This happened at a Motel 8 in Richmond KY.
