It seems that you are a victim of a fraudulent scammer who has used the CashNetUSA name to appear legitimate. I am an official representative of CashNetUSA, and we are sorry to hear about the harassment you have been experiencing.
I can assure you that these scammers are not affiliated with us. Our in-house collectors follow strict policies and procedures, industry best practices, and comply with the law.
Here are some next steps you should take:
- If you have taken out a CashNetUSA loan before, please contact the CashNetUSA Fraud Prevention Team with details of the incident you shared here at 866.254.3581. I have alerted the team of this post.
- If you have never received a loan from/through CashNetUSA, please call 888.801.9075 to provide us with the details of the incident that we can share with authorities.
- Contact your State Attorney Generals office and the Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint. Use the FTC link https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and reference fake payday collection fraud. And please visit this website for more information about reporting fraudulent debt collectors to the Florida Office of the Attorney General.
The Federal Trade Commission has published a list of debt collection questions and answers that is also a useful resource if you are unsure of the legitimacy of a debt collection request. You can find them here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm
Please remember these steps if you continue to receive such calls:
-Please DO NOT give them any additional personal information or money unless they are able to prove they are legitimate by providing you with a legitimate loan contract or payment history information.
-Tell them that you will not make any payments or give out any personal information unless the details of the original loan or payment history can be confirmed.
-It is perfectly fine to hang up on abusive or threatening debt collectors.
-Unfortunately, because we are in no way associated with these companies, we are unable to stop them from making the calls.
Please rest assured that we are doing our best to help authorities put an end to these fraudulent scams. Again, we are sorry you have received these frightening and stressful calls. We hope this post helps put a stop to them.
