I received a called yesterday morning (10/24) from Brenda Blair regarding there customer to collect on a bad check. I took out this payday loan trying to help my boyfriend get back to the states and met him out a dating site. I'm a single mother of 1 and trying to pay this loan back but barely making ends meet. I'm not refusing to pay the loan but limited funds.

She told me that I had to come up with $500.00 or they would proceed with legal proceedings and would contact my employer. She then called me today at 11:30 am (10/25) to give me one more chance to pay the $500.00. she then proceeded to say that she would recommend to her client to come up with $200.00 by 3 pm today and then pay the rest off when I could. She gave me the moneygram information. Also, if I didn't call back by 3 pm then pretty much said I will have an attorney contact regarding the rights of a bad check and threaten pretty much with jail but really not saying it.

How can you help.

Buffy,

There are circumstances in the State of Michigan where the writing of a bad check can land you in jail. But DO NOT depend on their attorney to give you accurate advice as to what you need to do.

I am working on entering into an arrangement with the fine Ed Magedson whereby my law firm may be able to assist victims in Michigan. If you would like, you may contact Ed at editor@ripoffreport.com and request that he send me your contact information and I'll see if there's anything I can help you out with.

Best regards!

They cant contact your employer

You just won big. They cannot contact your employer and tell them to go ahead with the legal proceedings now they have to. They cannot use it as a threat. Wish I knew the name of the agency to contact. Thought it was consumer lending or FTC. You can always tell them not to contact you any more as well. After making the verbal request send a certified letter to Brenda saying you do not want her to call you at home. She cannot call you at work either.
