Like many others on here, I fell viction to the LegalZoom trap. I assisted my elderly mother create her Will online using LegalZoom in July of 2013. Because she is low on funds and struggling to get by, I used my credit card to pay the fee of $70.00. The receipt was emailed to her and we forwarded a copy to my personal email so I'd have a copy of the transaction for my records. NOWHERE on this recipt does it mention anything about a recurring fee of $14.99 per month - NOWHERE! And nowhere on the website did it mention that we'd be signed up for a service automatically that we would need to cancel before a "30-day free trial" was up.

Now, I'm one of those people that is very responsible with my bills. I have automatic bill-pay setup as to not miss any payments. I also have the credit card company notify me if any purchases are made over a certain amount so I'd be notified if my credit card number fell into the wrong hands. So naturally, this monthly UNAUTHORIZED charge of $14.99 was being billed to my card from 8/12 - 1/14 going unnoticed by me. It wasn't until I was combing through my statement because of the whole Target Credit Card fiasco that I finally stumbled across all of these charges. Luckily I caught it when I did - $89.94 later. But after my company closed down a few months ago I am now unemployed and need every penny I have earned!

I tried contacting customer service at LegalZoom and was informed by "Swawnette" that I MUST have signed up for the "Comprehensive" package which includes these services. Um, no.... I paid $70 - the comprehensive package is $80. I requested a full refind of the unauthorized charges and she informed me that since LegalZoom sends out 2 reminder emails prior to end of the 30 day trial, that she can only refund the last $14.99 charge. These emails would have been sent to my elderly mother's email acount - which she rarely ever uses. I went back through her emails (which was easy to do because she deletes nothing) and could not find anything from them. But that shouldn't matter anyway. There was nothing that was sent to her in the mail (hardcopy) regarding this service and there was nothing in the email confirming the purchase (the receipt) regarding it either.

Seeing all of the complaints on the internet has confirmed what I am experiencing, this company is out to scam the little guys and to nickle-and-dime you to death....

Dear Calhoun,

We're sorry to hear that you were being charged for a service that you were unaware of. The plan that you are/were enrolled into is a legal plan that entitles you to receive unlimited attorney consultations on any new legal matter along with additional benefits. If it's something that you specified you didn't want to participate in or you did not see details of the plan in the questionnaire when you originally placed an order with us, then you should not have been enrolled. Please feel free to contact us again at Chyna@lzserve.com so we can resolve this for you.

We look forward to hearing from you.
