I was ripped off by Lenox Capital...and as I sit here and read...I see that so many others have gone through the same EXACT situation. WHO THE HELL IS PUTTING A STOP TO THIS??

I am sitting at home one night in November and I get a phone call from a guy (VERY NICE) named Zack Prins (he even spelled it out for me) and gave me his "rep number." Calling with this credit card company offering 0%, no annual fees, and money saving coupons, etc. I thought to myself geeze this is way too good to be true, "Whats the catch?" He swears nothing...there is no catch. I go on to having a long phone conversation with this A'hole about how I just moved to Illinois from California and this and that.

Well after talking with him I felt very comfortable about this card, not to mention the holidays are coming up and I haven't seen my family in California for over 6 months by then. So I said to myself I could use $2500 line of credit right now! I'll take it what do I do. He says well all you need is to post date a check for the one time only fee of $221.95 and your set.

I gave him all of my checking account information and he "processed" the account giving me a tracking number and his phone number with his rep number once again and everything. Then he says that I need to verify all my info with his manager. So I did and it was "recorded."

It was to be taken out of my account on Nov 22, 2002. I would then recieve the card within 14 days. Okay so I am waiting and waiting and no card. Well, today Dec. 2, 2002 rolls around and no card, also my rent check bounced. I soon find out I am $1500.00 overdawn in my account. I start calling the bank to see what happened and BOOM I HAVE BEEN SUCKED INTO THE SCAM.

My bank lady tells me well you have automated withdraws from your account in amounts over the last couple of weeks. I was horrified to hear this...still not putting two and two together I asked what the name of the company was for these debits and she told me Lenox Capital..and that was all of the info she had on the company. So I decide to check out if they have a website and I instead found web titles such as "SCAM, LENOX CAPITAL, CREDIT CARD SCAM!"

I cried and screamed. WHY ME? HOW COULD I BE SO F'ING STUPID TO FALL FOR THIS CRAP? Well looks like there are plenty of others that felt the same way I did.

Someone needs to put a stop to this and I am calling my local news chanel and news paper ASAP! This is BS and I think that if everyone notifies their local news media about this problem it will make America aware of these bastards! This is no JOKE! I am going to try and put a law suit together and go after these criminals myself.

I will keep this board posted and please, let every one of your friends and family know...send emails...this is the kind of spam e mail I wouldn't mind being sent! Good luck to the rest of the victims who have been violated by these jerks and my prayers to the people who are about to get a rude awakening when they find out the've been scammed right before Christmas!

My first words of advice are if it is still within 60 days since the $$ was taken out, get to your bank first thing tomorrow and see if they can do a reversal on the $$. I

F they are any kind of bank they can do this, unfortunatly for many of us including myself it is way beyond that time and we now have to fight for our $$.

There is an article on this site somewhere about the process of getting your $$ back wether it is with in the 60 days or past that. I am going to go tom my back first thing tomorrow and show them all these letters. Hopefully I can still get mine back without a big hassle.

I am still interested in a class action lawsuit though. I also found out that if all else fails with the back that we can sue in small claims court for nill to nothing and in most states we can claim up to 10 % interest per month on our $$ from the day it was taken out, I might just wait for mine. After that I will be filling a civil law suit against them because they took $$ out of my account with mu wifes approval and she was not listed on my account at that time. I think that is called fraud and if you and I were to go into a bank and withdrawal $$ under someone elses name they would slap the book to us. YA NOW THATS WHAT I"M TALKING ABOUT.

Hey Steve,

Why are you so mean! Are you the President of Freedom Resource or Employee of the month!!!! You seem to be taking this pretty personal.

The fact is a lot of us make mistakes and a lot of americans have bad credit. But, neither one of us is better than the other. The point is that, these jerks have been given a lot of people a raw deal. People with good and bad credit.

I don't know if I have been scamed yet, but I'm real nervous. I let Freedom Resource debit me the famous amount of $221.95 on 12/5, so my waiting period is not up yet. However, when I try to call all I get is busy, busy, busy. So I got worried and started looking up a web site and came across this site. So of course I'm concerned. And I'm sure I won't be exempt from there wrath.

Then I read some of the stories and feel there pain having been scamed before by a photographer. Then I read your comment to someone who has suffered enough. You should be ashamed of yourself for treating people this way. Who died and made you the Freedom Resource God. What you need to do is get a hobby and then write that guy an apology. JERK!

How can I ever thank you....geeze Steve, you seem to be a very inconciderate person not even taking the facts into consideration before you go writting this BS on this report.

So you keep a tape recorder next to your couch and every time you answer the phone you tape record your conversation??? So then what I wanna know is do you have a tape of that WHOLE CONVERSATION...including the part in the begining where they told you how you have been approved for a line of credit of $2500?

I think you aren't even a real person...check out this whole report on this company and also go ahead and check out all 271 complaints against these guys at the BBB of Atlanta. I am sure you are an annoyed employee of Lenox Capital or Freedom Research "Steal the publics money" trying to make my story sound like this was something of my fault. Maybe next time you wanna go writting on this you will think a little bit smarter in the sense that if you never had a problem with what happened to you then why are you here on rip off report.com...this website is for people who were ripped off ... you claim you weren't so whats your problem then anyways? Why are you here in the first place. You see I am smarter than the average bear and I know that you saw the faxes, emails, and letters I have been sending your company, Freedom Research in Atlanta, and you feel it be necessary that you protect them. Thats fine but maybe they can ask you to go to court in their favor as the one and only IGNORANT PEOPLE ON THEIR SIDE!

As for the rest of you dont listen to this so called STEVE guy think about how and why he is writting on here...
Facts...
-Who keeps a tape recorder near them at all times? (How convenient!)
-Why would you come on here looking up this company if you never had a problem with their services?
-Why wouldn't you read every other report on here not just this one which is way down on the list, before you write a rebuttle against me? (smart thinkin)

I am starting a law suit against them. I did get a hold of someone at Freedom and they claimed that the money would be back to me within 5-7 business days today is day seven and I have yet to get a single check. I WILL GET THESE BATSARDS AT FREEDOM/LENOX AND MAKE THEM PAY FOR EVERY DOLLAR THEY RIPPED OFF FROM US!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I too have been involved recently with this whole SCAM thing. I was worried and had a bad feeling about this whole credit card thing. I saw this as a perfect thing for me. I could get rid of the Mastercard that I have with a 18% rate on it and get one with no percent rate. Well The money has been withdrawn and yet no card.

As for Steve you shouldn't put people down when you dont know all the circumstances. She was told by her bank that 1500$ was taken from her account by that companies name. How could that be bad checks. I have yet to see anything from these people and you can not get a hold of them.

THIS IS STUPID AND NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. I am just starting out in life and its hard enough. I am a hard worker and have tried to do the right thing and it doesnt get me anywhere. Why should people who rip others off get away with it. ITS JUST NOT FAIR!

So you think that we are just griping? The took the money out of my account on 4/12/02 (so how many business days are in 8 months anyways) and I have been given nothing in return, no card, no packet that other people on here have talked about. nothing, unless you count their busy phone lines, the hours spent on hold, and the 10 promises of "your check is in the mail" or more recently "we will be sending your refund out at the end of the month". We got scammed, plain and simple, 221.95 worth of headaches is all i got from them. And someone should put a stop to them.

Just following up on that.

Freedom Resource talk about Credit Cards and credit lines - maybe not in the taped version but they wouldn't would they? Promise promise in the pre-amble, then don't deliver.

I do know what they do do though...

They ignore the NACHA rules of what constitutes a valid ACH transaction. The rule state you can't cold-call and then debit. There must be a written consent somewhere along the line.

They also use your consent to pass on to other companies - who also ACH you. Again against the rules. (you need a separate authorization for each transaction).

You can check these at the NACHA.org website. Spetember 19th News release.

These people ARE operating outside the rules, make no mistake about that. Mayeb they make 'innocent' mistakes - and maybe the moon is made of green cheese after all.

This is for Steve in Peoria, I think what most people are upset about is that this company took money from people's accounts and rec'd nothing in return. It's like going to the grocery store, buying $221.95 in food and not being able to bring it home. The company says 16 to 21 working days 80% of the people in these reports have waited way beyond that, I myself had money taken on 10/3, I do believe that more that 21 working days, wouldn't you agree. And yes most people that this company preys on are people who don't have great credit and are trying to rebuild their lives and also don't have $221.95 to throw away. The people that are upset in these reports are not stupid and I think you have insulted alot of people, and if you can't see that then I would question your integrity.

If Freedom Resources clearly indicates that what you get is a Stored Valued MasterCard with no line of credit how come there are over 50 complaints claiming that they were promised a Mastercard with a $1000-2500 line, which was never delivered?

Why Do We Always Blame Others For Our Mistakes?

I too was sold the membership to Freedom Resource. I tape recorded the verification and have written it here in part:
"It was explained to you that you are joining as a Member of Freedom Resource and that as a member you will receive your pay as you go stored value Visa or Mastercard that comes with no line of credit, no interest and no annual fees to carry..."

Now, I don't know where people feel they're getting "ripped off" when they agree on the recording that this is what they're purchasing. I know that $221.95 was debited from my account, so if your account was overdrawn by $1500.00, then you wrote $1278.05 worth of bad checks.

Guess your rent check would have bounced anyway. Perhaps your lack of planning and inability to balance your checkbook isn't this company's fault. Perhaps if you listened to what was said and not what you wanted to hear then you could have made an informed decision. I find it interesting that you're $1500 overdrawn, can't pay rent but yet you say you hired an attorney.

Hmmmm? Did his check bounce too? I'm tired of people always complaining about what "they" did to me, whether it be too hot of coffee from McDonalds or the fact that your credit sucks and you can't get a credit card (heck...probably can't even get a secured card). Maybe you should live within your means, work harder or both and stop looking for a free ride.

Again, the verification you agreed to said "NO LINE OF CREDIT" - and if it didn't, than you weren't talking to Freedom Resource. Also, the verification said "...in the amount of $221.95 as a one-time fee". I believe the other $1278.05 is your bad checks and banking fees. I guess you're ripping off more people than Freedom Resource. Can't wait to read about you ripping off people with your bad checks here on the rip-off report!

I too am a victim from this so called Freedom Resources.I guess they seem to have the freedom to take anyone's hard earned money. These people prey on people trying to get their lives back together, people who really don't have $221.95 to just give away. There is another victim that I have been E:mailing with that also is interested in filing a class action lawsuit. neither one of us knows where to start, but I know that she and myself would be more than happy to join you. You can E:mail me at mevans60440@yahoo.com, I am also from the Chicagoland area. There are more interesting facts that I have scooped up about this rip-off company. Also,I contacted NBC Dateline, if enough people would do that, they may take on this project, they love stuff like this. I was going to look into a website for people to respond to and get action taken. Hope to hear from you. Mary

GET 'EM BACK-Things I have been doing to get my money from LENOX CAPITAL

#130

Wed, December 04, 2002

I found out I had been ripped of by Lenox Capital (aka: Freedom Resource) on Monday Dec.2, 2002. Well I called and called till I got through to a VERY RUDE "manager" named LINDA yesterday 12-3-02. She claimed that the company was completely legit and that this is NOT a CREDIT CARD COMPANY. They are a company that offers a membership with "GREAT" benefits, etc. Well I exclaimed to her that I was told something completely different on the phone when they called to "STEAL" this money from me. I also had my lawyer on the phone recording our conversation.

She played me my authorization call and said well you authorized this money so we didn't "steal" your money! I argued back and forth with her and my lawyer finally got her to claim they will refund the $221.95 back into my bank account. They sent a fax to my lawyers office and it was an ACH Refund form the form. It stated that I was to authorized the $221.95 to go bak into my account within 48 hours (and my bank could take 5-7 days to recieve it) it also states that I can not go after the company for any more money. Well my lawyer blacked out the part about me not being able to go after them for anything else and I signed and had it legally notorized and faxed it back. I will keep you all updated on what happens!

I also suggest that you read about what to do when you ave had money scammed from you, its somewhere on this website ripoff.com!

I have been faxing the Freedom Resource/Lenox Capital Company everyday since I knew about this with all the letters from people they have ripped off. Actually I fax them about every 30 minutes. Just to waste their fax paper and toner. I also called the BBB of Atlanta (404)766-0875 and had them fax me the report against Lenox Capital including the 271 claims reporte dto the bureau! I also fax that to Lenox hourly with a note that says "YOUR COMPANY IS SCAMMING INNCOENT PEOPLE, HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?" I suggest that everyone send them faxes (770)425-2519 and fill their mailboxes with letters stating what they did to you. 1025 Rose Creek Drive, Ste. 620 PMB 387, Woodstock, GA 30189. A $.37 is worth it, if everyone they do this to send a letter they will be soon overwhelmed.

I am contacting my local newpapers and TV news stations to report this and hopefully they warn the public about these ANIMALS! I suggest you all do the same. We will nabb these JERKS is we all work together! Please send me an e mail and I will put you on an e mail list for future updates and if I am able to sue this company. I am thinkin' class action lawsuit!

Regards to the VICTIMS of Lenox Capital or Freedom Resource.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public?
