LEROY'S AUTO SALES CON ARTIST & A RIP OFF OF TUPPER LAKE NY

I purchased a 1998 Ford Ranger from Leaoy's Auto Sales all business was conducted by Leroy Pickering, one of the owners of the company. Upon my purchase and agreement with Mr. Pickering I was unaware of the inaccurate of the information on the contract.

The contract stated that I had purchased a 1998 ford Ranger truck, with a 6 cylinder, automatic transmission with air conditioning and anti-lock brakes. In actuality i purchased a 1998 ford Ranger truck with a 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission, with no air conditioning and no anti-lock brakes.
I went to another Watertown dealership about a year later and I could not trade it in .

The owner of the Watertown Dealership gave me an estimate of how much I had gotten RIPPED OFF. The estimate was about 5,000.00 dollors to much. On the following morning I arrived at Leroy's Auto Sales to speak with Mr. Pickering. Mr. Pickering refunded my money for the 1998 ford Ranger. After the deal was over he told me that he would make sure that I could never recieve a loan again.

I have had other people tell me that he has screwed them over too. So I am just letting every person in the world know that he is ripping you off every time you buy a vehicle from Leroy's Auto Sale in Tupper Lake New York.

Leroy's has also been in trouble in the past for selling stolen vehicles, Mr. pickering has also sold vehicles with major problems with the vehicles, so you would have to go back to pay Mr. pickering more money to fix it.

His logo WE SERVICE WHAT WE SELL is a crock of s**t. So please listen. I JUST WANT TO WORN PEOPLE SO THAT THEY DON'T GET SCREWED OVER LIKE I DID!!!!

Another Tupper Lake Rip-off ?

#21Consumer Comment

Tue, November 08, 2005

Why does this not surprise me? A night does not go by without my searching this website for a Tupper lake happening. Who is doing who's wife or husband or whos getting ripped off and then there are the endless but, entertaining character assinations of the towns folk. I am no longer satisfied with just reading a book with correctly spelled pages. NO NO this will never do anymore. I must have the misspelled misadventures of the Tupper Lake residents. I will now admit I am addicted....and the rebuttals you gotta love em'. John, I hope you and leroy can lead happy and productive lives in T.L.

If there are other Tupper fans I am opening the door for ya come forward and show your support.

Who buys a vehical without test driving it?

Did you not see the vehical before you bought it? One test drive should have clued you in on the fact that it wasn't an automatic trans.

Well sorry to hear about the ford problem, well I dont know how you can blame a dealer, unless he planned to sell you a lemon, and with all the lemon laws out there, I doubt it. I too bought a used car from Leroys, it was 2 years old when I bought it, and yes it had problems, but leroy did everything he could to fix it, and even made sure I had a loaner to get me back and fourth to work, I think the problem was you bought a FORD, now lets talk about one of his workers....Jason Malone..theres a real life dirt bag...he has owed a friend of mine $1200 for almost 18 months, and even though My buddy jay took jason to court, doesnt that liar go around telling everyone that he won the case....I guess hes just to dumb to read the judgement and figure it out that he owes...but my buddy has gone forward to have his wages garnished, and a lien placed on his house... So I disagree....Leroy is a business man doing his thing and making a living, he will bend over backwards to help out a customer, and my hats off to him in that reguards, how ever his downfall is he likes to hire that lying a*****e Jason (everything that goes wrong in my life aint my fault) Malone....so if you happen to stop into Leroys, enjoy the fake kit car in the showroom, and tell that scumbag Malone to pay his debts....thanks and good living to all

Consumer Beware, A game that dealers play with people such as yourself.

#21Consumer Suggestion

Mon, February 07, 2005

Just another example of the buyer beware. As far as I know, the lemon law in New York state does not apply to used cars that are over three years old. Buying a car from a roadside 'mom and pop' shop is a good way to let yourself in for a long term pain and woe session.

My first question to the owner of the Ranger is this? When did you first notice that the truck was not shifting itself? :o) A game that dealers play with people such as yourself, especially when you try to get out from under an elephant like your truck is tell you how much you got raped and how little the vehicle is worth, ad infinitum ad absurdum. It's a nasty way of saying we don't want your headache, buddy. In your post you stated that Leroy refunded your money and took the truck back? I would be pleased with that and go on my merry way. As for you never receiving a loan again, I don't a hicksville smalltown car dealer can manage that. Take your money and forget about Leroy's automotive. Also, any dealer that you DO choose, make sure you research them, talk to former customers and get a feel for their attitude and policies. You will be a much better position to buy your next car.

I got into a similiar deal on the very first car I financed. A $5000 91 Cavalier ended up costing me almost $14,000.

Ouch.

Vera,
You crack me up. That is one of the best posts that I have read yet! Really. My husband is vocally wondering at my sanity for sitting here at the computer and snickering at the monitor. I come to the Tupper Lake threads when I need to take a minute or so to unwind for whatever reason and I need a good laugh. This was it.

Keep up the good work. (and now that I have let you know that I think your response was brilliant, I need to get back to my own work...jewelry making..I work with tiny little stones and can only work at night once my daughter is in bed.)

Thanks again,

"Shut Your Mouth And Deal With It?" Defeats the spirit in which these reports are posted...

#21Consumer Comment

To John (the original Complainant):

I feel that perhaps John didn't appear (correct me if I'm in err, here) to read the contract until after he made the purchase (when money was exchanged, or something was signed), he was clearly misinformed. There is an astronomical difference between four and six cylinders, and an automatic trans versus a manual trans; especially in the trade-in value of the car. But I can definately understand how some car dealerships will hover over you and keep you distracted from reading all the fine print. It's very possible that the only time you really got to read the contract was after the deal was sealed and you got your Customer Copy.

Here is some relatively good news; you can amend your credit report, and contest charges on it. Get yourself a free copy of your credit report...that is, if you have been turned down for anything (such as the next car purchase at a more upstanding dealership). Otherwise, you will have to pay for it. Get a report from all the major agencies. Highlight specific items you wish to comment or contest, and provide documented proof (such as a sealed/notarized copy of your contract, and a statement from an unbiased, reputable separate party that is also notarized). This whole process takes a few weeks, and you will recieve a new copy of your report with the satisfactorily proven amendments in place.
Of course, it behooves me to advise, that you have your amendments proofread for spelling and grammatical errs...you never know how seriously someone will take those issues. Personally, I feel the use of clean language in addition to proper spelling and grammar is just as key in conveying an intelligent message. Passion alone is not enough...neither is viscosity.

I sincerely hope that you've gotten out of this mess (as it's been five months since your initial post)...it's pretty clear that this guy feels very confident in his position, as he had no issue with threatening you as he did. But then again, I seem to recall another report from Tupper Lake about a gal with the Pickering name literally got away with murder. She was apparently so broken up about it, she couldn't eat until later that day, as I recall...the poor thing. (I don't care how weepy she was, or how good a mother she thinks she is...if she's guilty of vehicular homicide, she should pay the price for her crime. But that's another story.)

To Susie:

"First of all buddy, learn how to spell. How old are you, and you can't even spell WARN!!? "

This is the first thing you have an issue with? The Complainant's spelling? This person feels cheated by this Auto Dealership and has felt need to post about it, and you step out with a "Hey, Buddy, your spelling's bad!" What are you...the Grammar Police? (Speaking of WHO NEEDS to get a life)

Telling someone to "Shut up and deal with it!" when they get mistreated as a consumer defeats the very purpose for which this RipOff Report website was concieved. How sad that the EDitor has to pay all this money for webhosting, just so you can come on here with unintelligent babble and slander the victim, making him a victim yet again.

Perhaps YOU feel it's alright to simply and sheepishly hide your head in the sand while the world reams you, but most folks don't like it, and have that right (protected by law...guess which document I'm talking about); it's called Free Speech. It's that same right that allows you the privlege to start your comment with an attack on the Complainants spelling virtues.

"Its just to bad, your the only one..."
Whee-OO! Whee-OO "Pull over and take your hands off the English book!"
Hmm...where do I start? next time, try: "It's too bad... (punctuation...there's an apostrophe there, and "too" (with the two o's) is the one that implies amount, frequency, or simply "also" (e.g. "too much, too often, me too").
"You're the only one..." is how it is written, not the way you have it. I know it's a stretch.

"You being screwed over was probably a good thing, and you deserve it. Probably couldn't happen to a better person eh?"

The only people who deserve to be "screwed" are the people who do alot of screwing over--and those who think it's okay to screw folks over (and laugh at the victim).
Well, let's just suffice it to say, a comment like this begs the question: Are you a Narcissist? What goes around, comes around, Dearie.
Add to the fact that your use of profanity in your response only serves to further decay any micron of credibility you might have had.

"That's it for now!! Just wanted to give ya a piece of my mind!"

At the risk of this response being "un-aired", I am faced with the quandry: "Can you actually SPARE a piece of your mind?"
Seems to me, you are a clear contributor to the moral ethic that pervades the peoples of Tupper Lake. (Maybe, Daddy sells the cars, and Mommy test drives them...'specially the sport utilities, to the local convinience store.)

"It's not there fault they were given false information about these cars."
Yes, it is...if they were told something false, they could have simply found out otherwise by having a good mechanic look at the trade in. That is what most car-lots do. "Caveat Emptor" applies to any purchaser, even the dealers.

Incidentally, you spelled "their" wrong. "There" identifies a place: "over there, under there, there in Tupper Lake", etc. "Their" is possessive; it denotes personal, or ownership (burden of responsibility): "their car, their house, their problem", etc. And it is THEIR FAULT.

Happy Trolling, Susie. >;}

"God bless us, every one!"
And John...you make sure to keep us posted on your dealings...I'm happy to know you got your money back.

Wow Suzie! .. good to see someone with passion

#21Consumer Comment

Sat, April 10, 2004

Wow Suzie,

You are a feisty one! It is good to see someone with passion, though I don't know if that is always the case when it comes to something that is so removed from you personally. It makes me think that you might have "anger management" issues.

I am always amazed at the people on this site that will read multiple complaints about a company from others and because they personally didn't have that experience believe that everyone else is wrong.

If a company had 201 customers and hurt 200, but you were the 201st and weren't hurt you would believe that the company was GREAT and everyone else was a whining person that probably deserved to be hurt.

There is a term for that, "Self-centeredness." Unfortunately, the prognosis for recovery for that is not good. After all, before a person can work on a problem they have to admit they have one... and self-centered people are incapable of seeing that they have a problem. Quite a litte quandry, huh?

To the person with the Ford truck... I was amazed that you got your money back. I am not sure how the paperword (and pricing I assume) would be so off on the truck. Sounds like the S package truck. You are lucky that you got out cheap. I lost a clutch at 15,000 miles and an engine at 55,000. The A/C I had installed at the dealer never worked right.

When someone of power says that they are going to use their power to cause you harm, then someplace like this can be an equalizer.

I do know that often times when a person posts here they are hurt. We don't necessairly get the "whole" story. That is where "buyer beware" comes in.

When buying a used car find a garage that you trust and tell the car dealer that you are taking the car to the garage to get the vehicle looked at. If the dealer is honest (as Suzie insists) he will have no problem with this.

First of all buddy, learn how to spell. How old are you, and you can't even spell WARN!!? Second of all, if Tupper Lake services aren't good enough for you, then go out of town. Nobody cares about your car, or what has happend to it. The two owners just purchase the cars, and sell them. It's not there fault they were given false information about these cars. You don't like the car, fine, go somewhere else next time. Instead of making yourself sound like an a*s on this thing, shut your mouth and DEAL WITH IT. Its just to bad, your the only one I have heard of that has a problem with LeRoy's Auto Sale. Anyone else will agree that the two men who run it do a d**n good job, and don't need to deal with your bullsh*t. You being screwed over was probably a good thing, and you deserve it. Probably couldn't happen to a better person eh? STOLEN VEHICLES? Are you kidding me....? You think that those men stoop that LOW to STEAL VEHICLES? Wow, its funny how rumors start! Are you sure you are talking about the same Leroy that the rest of us know? I have purchased several new and used vehicles in the past, and can tell you one thing about all automobiles, new or used.

At some point in time, they will need work. My most recent purchase was a 1999 Dodge Ram Pickup that Leroy himself sold me. At first it ran great, but then developed problems.

It skipped uncontrollably, smoked like a chimney, would not go into four wheel drive, would not come out of four wheel drive, needed new ball joints, leaked exhuast, transfer case s**t the bed, so on and so on.

For everything that happened Leroy was right there to fix it and help me out with another loaner truck. For what Leroy charged me for the truck, and for the amount of work that he had to put into it, there is no way that he made any money on that vehicle, and not once did he make a snide comment or seem bothered by my requests for work. Leroy does not know what kind of vehicle he is taking in on trade, he relies on other people being honest to him.

Somebody lied to Leroy when they traded in the truck that I bought, or else I dont think that he would have taken it in. But Leroy went out of his way to see that I was happy and that he made everything right.

More car dealers should be like Leroy, you have no idea about some of the assholes that are out there.
