Les Schwab Auto Repair won't fix their mistake
I had some work done on my rear end, I had them replace a pinion seal in it, I drove my truck to my house when they were done and noticed no problems, I made a few short trips around town and still no problems.
The mileage when they fixed it was at 32261 and now it's at 32292, I only drove it 31 miles and then it broke, what finally broke it was a couple miles of highway driving. When I was on the highway I first noticed a burning smell and then a few seconds later I threw my ring or pinion through the bottom of my axle housing.
When I got under my truck to see what happend I saw than my pinion acully twisted in half and my axle housing around where the pinion seal goes was red hot, and was on fire (something wasn't put together right), I watched them do the work and later when I read a how to fix it guide, (after my truck broke) I saw that they didn't do it right, they should have used a torque wrench instead of an impact wrench to get the correct torque setting and ther were more things wrong with the instalation too, but any way I took the truck back to them and they said it wasn't there fault and they wouldn't fix it.
A new rear end is somewhere around $1200 so I don't want to pay for their mistake, also to note I called other repair shops and explained to them what happend and every one said they put it back together wrong and agreed with me that they should fix it for free since they messed up. also if witnessing the rearend being red hot is important I had about 5 people who saw it. Thanks for your web site, Mike.
