I took a truck in to Les Schwab in Molalla,Or about 7 months ago for a front end alignment for $55.00. The mechanic that look at it said he would have to do $754.00 of work on it to be able to align it. I took it to another alignment shop(Johns Frame Shop in Portland,Or.)They fixed it and aligned it for $100.00. They only needed 1 of the many parts Les Schwab said I needed!!! WELL Today 10/28/2009 I took another truck into Les Schwab in Molalla,Or. for the same service and once again the SAME MECHANIC (PEDRO) came to me with a quote of $595.64 to be able to do the alignment!!! Mad as hell I went this time to Erickson Tire Factory in Molalla,Or.They put my truck up on the rack with me standing there and went over my front end and nothing I MEAN NOTHING needed to be replaced !!!! They charged me $50.00 for a alignment and I thanked them for being one of the last honest tire companies around...Les Schwab of Molalla,Or is one of the biggest RIP OFF'S selling you work that you don't need done!!~!!!! That should be against the LAW!! And they should be held accountable..!!

I am sorry you had a bad experience. All the times I have taken my vehicle into les schwab nothing but perfection. Still people are still people and we all make mistakes. In regards to your issue their motto is if we cant guarantee it we wont sell it. No some vehicle do have tolerance specs however most parts are the exact same but one manufacture says that there are no tolerance while the other says that there are. Its better not to have any ball joint, tie rod end play or excetra when aligning a vehicle whats the point if parts are still moving that are causing a pull or bad tire wear.

IF YOU EVER PLAN ON GOING BACK TO LES SCHWAB/OTHER REPAIR PLACES FOR ANYTHING, SUCH AS ALIGNMENT. YOU GET A QUOTE FOR FRONT END REPAIRS MAKE SURE THE BALL JOINTS AND TRACK BAR ASSEMBLY (DODGE/JEEPS) OR IDLER ARMS HAVE SPEC ON THEM. THEN GO LIKE YOU BEEN DOING GET SECOND OPINION FOR THE SPECS. FOR THEY CAN MAKE IT UP. MANUFACTORS HAVE WHATS CALL TOLERANCE SPEC FOR MOVEMENTS FOR PARTS

EXAMPLE: 1995 DODGE 1500
TRACK BAR MOVEMENT AT JOINT END .90 INCH OF PLAY

UPPER BALL JOINT. .075 ALLOWABLE  MEASURE .045 STILL GOOD

LOWER BALL JOINT  .085 ALLOWABLE  MEASURE .125 NO GOOD

ALSO ON DRUMS AND ROTORS HAVE SPEC TOO

YOU HAVE OPTION TO REPLACE UPPER WITH LOWER TO SAVE TIME AND LABOR THAT WAY ALL PARTS UNDER WARRANTY 12/12

DON'T FALL FOR THE SAYING CAN'T ALIGN YOUR VECHILE TILL YOU GET FRONT END REPAIR FIRST, I BEEN DOING THIS FOR 16 YEARS AND HAVE SEEN VECHILE COME AND GO AND ABLE TO ALIGN VECHILES WITH MINIMUM FRONT END PLAY OR MAJOR. ALIGNING IS MAKING THE VECHILE HANDLE BETTER THEN WHEN IT CAME IN RIGHT.

This is standard practice now at all las schwab stores This has happened over and over to the owner of the company whos fleet of truck I maintain .every time a truck goes in the owner was told it needed $100s of dollars in repairs I went as far as to completely rebuild the front end on a truck  then drove it through mud to make it look old. sent it in to les schwab and the owner was given a 2 page  repair list. some of the parts you could see looked new  when the owner confronted the shop manager he politely analogized and said it was a training issue! it used to be a great place  but looks like corporate wants the public milked now!

Why would you go back to them a SECOND time? They tried to screw you the first time and what do you do? You go back to them a second time.
