Les Schwab Tire Co. reposession practices Sandy Oregon
How many people that do business with Les Schwab have actually read the back of the 'receipt' that you sign when you have had work done on your vehicle? I know you are supposed to but did I really read it all, nope, and I know many of you haven't as well...at least until today. That's right, go check it out, you will be amazed and it will be a wake up to many. Guess what...that is a binding contract you have just signed with them.
There are clauses on the back that states that Les Schwab can repo anything you have purchased from them (on account or otherwise) if you fail to make your payments. You have just signed that they can even come on your property or enter your garage to take the items they have come for.
That is right, lets say you have had an account with them for 10 years, you purchased something that first year, have paid it off, then you purchase something else on that account and for what ever reason are unable to pay. They will come and take what ever they choose, even if it is something you have paid for (no matter how old it is as well)!
In Oregon repossession is allowed and permitted as long as it is peaceful. They have to leave if you tell them...this doesn't usually happen though. Repossession is a Civil matter and not for the police to get involved or enforce, but do call them, they should help to keep the piece. This was the mistake I made, not calling the Police and doing something I thought I had full legal right to do.
Did you know that it is illegal to bring a gun out in view (on your own property) even if you have asked and told them (Les Schwab, now tresspassors) to leave your property several times?
Les Schwab doesn't leave, they stay, they shove you, even when you have asked them to leave your property several times, then you tell them to leave or you will get your gun...do they leave...NOPE. They hang around, eventually they leave but then they have the Police come and visit you, you get arrested and thrown in jail for doing what you thought you had full legal right to do (protecting your property...paid for I might add)(also our only vehicle and way to get to work-live in the country too far out for public tranportation). Now we have a huge legal thing going on and Les Schwab is still harrassing us!
Les Schwab is a scam company, the back of any of those 'receipts' lets you know just how bad they are. I am sure that with the right lawyer and possibly a class action suit or something they would change their ways. I have talked to many lawyers and Police Officers who say what they are doing isn't right or legal but we don't have money to pursue this.
I am not in any way saying we don't owe them the money, we do. What I have a problem with is thier ways of dealing with it. If they came for the products that aren't paid for there wouldn't have been any issues to begin with. But to take things that ARE paid for is WRONG...legally and morally.
And now with all this I have a 'record', have been arrested, face lots of jail time (all new to me and I am not young anymore), major stress in our lives that we just don't need. I wonder how many others have had to suffer this way as well?

Pay your bill! Stop buying weed and start paying who you owe money to. They should have kept you in jail.

In the state of Oregon we are an (OPEN CARRY STATE).. That means you can carry a weapon in the open with no permit ect.. Most younger law enforcement officers are not aware of this. You may bring a weapon out on your property in open view. It is not against the law.
