This dealership initailly posted an ad on Craigslist to sell a vehicle as a private owner. They told me to head north of Atlanta on I-85 and call them for further directions. When I reached the exit for Lake Lanier, I begin to think it was a scam. After several calls, the individual answered and completed instructions to drive to what I now know was a dealership. I test drove a 2000 Land Rover which she assured me she drove daily and was a good car for me and my daughter. The inside of the vehicle has been drenched from a recent rain storm because the sunroof had been left up and a few light were on such as traction control and ABS.

While driving the car I stopped at Autozone to have them test the engine. The associate told me that he was getting a few codes and that it could be minor. But, he also said there was some kind of sensor code. I went back to the dealership to share the information. The salesperson assured me it had to be minor because she drove it all the time and had no problems with the vehicle. We negotiated a lesser price with a refusal to let down the sunroof which I would have to do myself. I paid them for the vehicle and drove away with a Bill of Sale that read that the car was being sold for parts because they agreed to sell it for much less than they paid for the car.

By the time I reached the city of Atlanta, the check engine light had come on. More, the vehicle could not pass emissions. I paid someone to close the sunroof at $65 to avoid further water damage. Apparently, the motor was bad. the back window motor was bad also. The front passenger side window was off track. The window controls compartment had disconnected from the console and could not be easily readjusted. But, those seemed like minor things. It needed a paint job and the bumpers needed to be replaced. I figured that could wait also. I contacted the dealer who informed me that they were in a nonemissions county and were not required to perform an emissions on the vehicle I purchased from them. He added that they sold it for less and that I would be responsible for the emissions.

I had the car checked out by a mechanic. He ran a diagnostic and told me to get rid of the car. He stated that the vehicle's parts were expensive and the labor was too. He said that the car had major issues but that he wanted to start by getting the emissions passed. I bought the front, r/l oxygen sensors and paid him to put them on. The check engine light was off and the emissions test was repeated. The vehicle passed. However, there was mush more work to be done. I became discouraged and considered reselling the vehicle to someone that wanted to invest in an older vehicle and could afford the repairs. But, I still needed a vehicle to drive.

I went to register the vehicle before the drive-out tag expired. The dealership had not provided any documents on the vehicle and I was issued an extension on the drive-out tag. I contacted the dealership again, and again and again to no avail. Finally, I reached someone but they blew me off and no one is returning my calls. Now, I can not register the vehicle, the vehicle still needs enormous repairs. and I can not even resale it. I recently replaced the thermostat because it started running hot.

The brakes are next. But, I am putting too much money into a vehicle that i do not even own. These people took my money and knew they were selling me garbage. More, I don't think they had the right to sell the vehicle to begin with and I will consult an attorney, hoping they will work pro-bono or something. I am extremely disappointed and this entire situation has been extremely stressful. I can not believe this business is allowed to operate in this manner.
