Level 3 Communications Supported e-mail fraud attempt New York
"Thanks for Placing your Order with Amazon," the e-mail message begins, "your item will Delivered Soon." (sic). This orthographically challenged scammer identifies itself as "Advance Amrerica" (sic) at amrericaadvance@gmail.com.
Received today, 7 November 2019 at 12:27 p.m. local time, and using an Amazon logo, the text continues: "Hi, Your package will be delivered by 7 PM by our Amazon Delivery Agent. Your Credit/Debit card will be charged automatically for $800. And Package will be delivered to Russia." (No kidding, that's what it says) Need I explain that I had no order to Amazon.
I suppose that the threat of an automatic debit of $800 is supposed to send me into a tizzy, frantic to halt the "error." An out is provided: "If you Didn't placed Order (sic) Call now at +1 646 736 7335 For Cancel the order" (sic). This number is identified by whitepages.com, reverse phone look-up, as a "non-fixed VoIP," carried by LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, licenced in the state of New York.
I am fed up and sick to death of multiple, almost daily fraud attempts, telephone or e-mail, all coming VoIP, through American carriers, in this instance via LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS. This carrier, and the others, ought to police their traffic and not aid and abet overseas fraud operations.
