The following email was sent to me on 5/10/07 via my paralegal from Lexington Law Firm:

This e-mail is in regards to your warranty review. We have reviewed your case and determined the amount of your refund as $259. Over the time that you have been with us, you have paid us $859. We have gotten four deletions on each report. We value each deletion at $50. The twelve deletions we got on all three reports multiplied by the $50 per deletion comes to $600. We subtract the difference, which is $259, and that is your refund.

This refund will be applied to your account within the next day or two. Please allow at least ten business days for the money to be credited back to your card.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us. Our number is 1-877-401-1938. Thank you for your time.

Have a great day!

Today is 6/17/07 and this refund has yet to hit my account. I spoke with a woman in accounting who told me the refund had been reduced to $209 due to an additional deletion they must have overlooked. I said, "that's fine. Just send the $209 then, please." When the $209 did not show up in my account, either, I called accounting again. I spoke with a girl who told me it was "in process," and sounded very anxious to get off the phone. She could not even give me an estimated time frame. In addition, my paralegal ignored the emails I mailed to her about this matter.

As this point I suspect that Lexington never had the intention of issuing me this refund.

Initially, I would have been more than happy to receive the stated credit of $259 or the revised $209. At this point, I am so fed up with the deception and run-around I have received from Lexington, I now feel they should issue me a refund of $859, the total I have spent for their services.

It should not be this much of a hassle to obtain a refund that one has been promised in writing!!

I will add an update if I receive resolution with them.

Electronic Refunds can take time

I am writing to see if you have received your refund. A lot of times if you have used a credit card, your bank may take some time (7 to 10 additional days, sometimes longer) to process the refund. Did you review this with your bank?
