It's unfortunate that a company would treat other decent hardworking people trying hard to make a better life for their family this way but leasing scams against small business owners are seemingly common. A friend of mine is fighting the same type of battle with the above named businesses who I believe seriously misrepresented what he was signing upfront and billed him for nearly $4,000 in charges 6 months after agreeing the contract was paid in full. He can't pay it because all his money is going to lawyers to fight them.

Do nothing and they'll likely let the charges build for months or years without even notifying you it's building then file a lawsuit in a a state you are too far from to fight. It may eventually ruin your credit and leave you in bankruptcy. You'll lose everything you ever worked for. Hiring a local lawyer specializing in contract law is necessary.

But the best way to stop them in my opinion: Go to the U.S. Attorney Dept. of Justice webpage and you'll see they have set up a task force to deal specifically with this type of financial fraud. Any type of financial fraud or extortion that hurts small business and thus hurts the economic recovery is something they're pursuing hard right now. That may change if a new admisistration gets in so act NOW!

Send a letter to the D.O.J. today, right now, detailing what they did to you and are doing to you. Enclose documents to back up your claims. Even if the fraud was verbal such as telling you one thing will be in the contract but giving you something to sign that says something else is misrepresentation of fact. Although there's no written proof it's still illegal. It only takes a few people willing to testify they were lied to in the same fashion to prove it to a judge and.or jury.

Do it. On the Dept. of Justice site you'll see a blog showing the amazing number of convictions they get every month. Imagine how great it will feel to know these unethical people's offices are about to be raided, their computers seized as evidence and the lawyers, officers and staff responsible for perpetuating the fraud are led out in handcuffs to face a trial and long prison term. They can't pull tricks on you quite so easily from prison can they?

Your local lawyer as well as a lawyer in the state the company is based in can and should represent your case. But the D.O.J. lawyers and federal marshals are the big dogs you can help sick on these creepy companies who take advantage of people.
