I received a letter with a check enclosed of $4850.00 in the mail today. (8/27/08) The letter was from a company called Liberty Financial in association with Liberty Lottery Corp. It stated that I had won a lump sum of $150,000 and the check of $4850.00 was to cover Taxes (GST) of $3,650.00 and Administrative cost of $1,100.00. I called Mr. Algor and he said he was very busy at that moment to call back in 30 mins. So, I called back in 30 mins and he stated that the money was from the North American Prize Drawing, which I was supposedly entered into by shopping at Wal-Mart, Sears, and the Home Depot. He stated in the letter and on the phone that by shopping at these places I was entered into the CENTRAL COMPUTER DATA BASE of these malls and therefore has been chosen to claim the prize of $150,000. I immediatly jumped online and googled Liberty Financial and came up with this website. After reading 1 of the ripoff reports I knew it was a scam because my letter was exactly the same except a few numbers and the paragraph about the drawing from Wal-mart, Sears and the Home Depot. The check was from Citibank N.A. of NY. I called the bank and told them my suspicion and had them check to see if the check was legit. As I had suspected the check was invalid. I will turn over the check and letter to the local police department for investigation.
