Our church was contacted by Liberty Online Services. They offered a free online yellow pages listing, but in reality, signed the church up for a $29.95 per month online service. I repeatedly explained to the lady that we already had a website and did not need their service.

As soon as I received an indication that we had been signed up for the service, I called the company to cancel it. The employee was very vague, but assured me that it would be cancelled.

We have been billed by ILD Teleservices (a billing agent for Liberty Online Services) for six months. We have been billed $29.95 by Hold Billing Services.

Every employee we spoke with at Liberty was rude, stonewalled us, and made it seem like it was our fault. They told me since I did not have a cancellation number, I could not prove I had cancelled the service.

After reading a similar post on this website, we contacted our Public Service Commission, which was very helpful. We also spoke with Verizon, our local company, who is now refunding us the $215 in fraudulent charges.

Moral: Always read your telephone bills carefully and don't let those people stonewall you.
