They tell you to deposit the check in the bank and then call them and they will send you the rest of the money. You receive a letter with a check for a large amount of money. The letter tells you that you have won a sweepstakes. They say that there has been a mix up in contacting you, that they have the wrong zip code. They tell you to deposit the check immediately, then to call them. I did not do this but checked online and found this website that details previous stings by this bunch of scam artists. If I knew where to report them to the police, The check is drawn on a bank in Canada and looks real, however, once you make the deposit, the check bounces and you are out the money if you have spent any of it. They want you to send them money for something,I am not sure what, but if you do that, you will be less that amount of money as well. This is a very bad bunch of people and you need to tear up the check and forget the whole thing.
