Liberty Tax Services Allison Ryan Quoted me one preparation fee of less than $110 with with the 24-48hr bank product fee included but charged me $497.00 Van Nuys, California
On January 25, 2012 I filled my income tax with Liberty Tax thinking that since I filled with them last year I would like to use the same person. Allison was my prepare last year and we got our return back in a speedy manner and she even went over the fees for each form filled last year and explained them to me so I understood the extra prices then. this year since my husband and I did not have any extra forms I understood when Allison wrote out on a piece of paper my preparation fee and bank product fee for the 24-48hr RAL would be $110 and if My husband and I were not accepted for the
RAL then only the preparation fee would be taken Allison then told me that the bank fee was only $61. Now can someone tell me how her filling fee for a standard form went from being less than $50 to $497. I am no mathematician but this is totally incorrect. when I seen the mistake I called her right away because I did not cash the check they gave me and of course supposedly her computers were down so I explained to her the dilemma and she could not tell my how much she
charged me in fact she acted totally surprised when I told her what I was charged. She went on to state that as soon as her computers came up she would call me back.
While I waited I began to call the IRS to make sure the amount was issued and it was. I waited an hour and since she did not call me back I called her. Allison still could not tell me anything she could not justify why the return fee was so much. I
vented in a dignified manner and then Allison told me I could call the head office so I asked for the number and called them. A young lady answered her name was Ms. Amber so I explained the dilemma and she went on to try and make it
seem like Allison never quoted her preparation fee to me but Allison did along with the bank fee. After she could not win that conversation she went on to say the only one that can discuss this with me is the one who prepared the taxes for us. I told her that I was told to call them by Allison she told me she would call her and call me back in 30min. Ms. Amber called me back only to be disrespectful by calling me sweetie and not by my name then she told me that she told the manager about the situation and that the manager would contact me shortly. Well the manager called, her name was Ms. Angie I explained the dilemma to her she said I should have a final sheet in my return which would tell me what the fees were and I told her there was no sheet which was strange she told me she would get my information and call me back. 20min later Ms. Allison called me to tell me the computers were still down and that as soon as they came back up she would call me. I
started speaking to these people at 3pm February 20th 2012the last time I spoke to Allison was 5:01 pm February 20th 2012. Apparently their computers never came back up.
I will call and speak to an IRS agent in the morning and let you all know what happened. Meanwhile I would not recommend
Liberty tax for no one. Read everything you sign and make sure they quote the bank fee separate from their filing fee.
