I was a graduate student in the Liberty University Online Distant Learning Program, in pursuit of a Masters of Arts and Teaching degree.  Through many long nights without sleep, and working construction, I was three one week intensives away from finishing my degree program.  The intensives were offered on the weekends through the fall semester, however, due to the distance from the school and several conflict of interests with work, I was unable to accomplish the program via weekends.

Currently, I have a 3.3 GPA in the program with interest of completion of this degree this summer.  As a result of extenuating circumstances last summer I was enrolled in the intensive courses, however, was unable to take the courses.  The circumstances involved in the dropping of the classes involved a family situation, in which my wife and I adopted two children in a difficult situation.  When my wife and I were able to make arrangements with the children to continue taking the courses, we were in a car accident in the state of Indiana that hindered us from making the trip to Virginia, one week before the first intensive class.  Our only vehicle was in the repair shop and we decided to put the classes on hold for a short time until life slows down.

Even though my wife is seven months along in her pregnancy, we were planning on taking the intensive courses this June and July.  Then I was declined from the entering of the program.  When I thought it might have just been a misunderstanding, I reapplied and was denied once again.  Due to not completing a class for an entire year they consider it broken enrollment and with the degree program changed I am not able to re-enter the same program.   If I am not able to return to the original degree program, all of the classes I have completed will be of none effect, due to an unaccredited bachelors degree in Pastoral Ministry from a private Bible college.

My wife and I are in the same predictament with the university and have invested around $35000 without anything to show for it.  The school has passed us from person to person and the Dean of Education has not returned my messages via voicemail.  I am studying my options and if anything I am looking for a reimbursement, and I am not even considering my time (2 1/2 years) and effort (sleepless nights to achieve 3.3 GPA while working two jobs), just the tuition that is owed to the school.

I hate to say this, but I think you're out of luck. Every college I've worked at has the same policy: if you have a long break in enrollment, and the curriculum for your program changes, you must re-enter under the new curriculum.

Frankly, I'm surprised you were admitted to a graduate program without a bachelor's degree from an accredited school.
