My husband bought me a hat at a Lids store when he was home on leave from the Middle East. I wore it only a few times, and the adjuster ripped out of the back of the hat. It wasn't pulled on too hard, or abused-I loved this hat, and it was taken care of.

I tried to contact the customer service center, and I was told that they never had such a hat in their inventory. I was directed to contact the exact store. I did so, and never recieved a reply after the first time. I waited a month, thinking they had other issues to resolve, but still no reply. So i emailed the company directly with my concerns, and an explanation of what had happened so far.

I recieved a reply the next day. They stated that since the hat had been worn, they had no receipt of the transaction, and they no longer carried that hat in their inventory, they would not take it back. They also stated they would not give an exchange or store credit. This hat cost $24 plus tax. You'd think for that amount of money, it would last a little longer than a few weeks. At the end of the email reply, they apologized for any inconvenience this may have caused, then thanked me for being a loyal Lids customer. What a joke.

Well, my husband has bought quite a few hats from this company, including the one he gave me. We will no longer be buying anything from this store or from any others which may be under common ownership. Just the fact that it took over a month to get an answer was wrong, let alone the way the company handles defective merchandise.

you said you wore it a few times?..how long of a time frame is that?..its just that..by the time you asked about the hat , they no longer carried it...that seems a while.

most retail stores wont take something back if its worn..and some places make exceptions on worn damages if there is a receipt that follows..within 30 days of purchase.
