Received a bogus check drawn on The Bank of New York - Deleware, Newark, NJ. Looked up on internet and found it is based in the Gran Cayman Islands.  Check had no water mark, but looked very real.  Envelope was post marked Canada, with a person to contact in New York. Letter stated the check for $4,899 was to pay taxes on winnings of $250,000.
I threw everything away, so I am lacking some details.  The company issuing the check was Life Investors Insurance Co. of America.  Also, on the signature area they misspelled the name of the company (Investor).  Said none of my finances would be involved and to call a Dominique ......  I didn't call anyone.  It also stated the check would be received by way of a money gram or western union.  Anytime, something has to do with a money gram or western union, you know it is a fraud.
