Before I type my statement, here is a QUOTE from the Lifeproof Website:

"LifeProof delivers the highest rating against water ingress of any case on the market. That means you can surf, swim or soak without dunking your device. And, when it comes to everyday drenchings like wild weather, surprise spills and kitchen calamities, your electronics stay high and dry"

"A final word on water: we water test every case we make. If it leaks, we scrap it. We do this to give you the confidence that your phone or tablet is 100% protected"

100% PROTECTED!

I have been totally ripped off by the company Lifeproof, who sells Cell Phone Cases to top Cell Phone Brands.  I recently bought a brand new Samsung Galaxy 5s from Verizon Wireless (Who I will get to next).  I ALWAYS get insurance on my phones, but I did not do it this time.  When I was buying my Samsung, I was asked if I was interested in a Lifeproof case?  I needed a case so I asked her to tell me more about it.  She told me my PHONE was covered for up to one year, through Lifeproof) if any damage happens to it.  It was expensive, but my kids usually play with my phone, Im outside alot, etc, so I decided to buy it in case something happens to it.  As she was ringing up everything, she asked me if I wanted insurance on my phone, I thought about it and I asked her if this case covers my phone up to one year, then why should I get insurance on the phone and spend more money?  She says "Your right".  So i declined the insurance.  Last week, my phone got wet in the rain, and started acting crazy.... screen was flashing, windows starting popping up, etc.  I took my phone out of the case and saw that the water came through the case and into my battery compartment.  I was shocked it happened because it says "we water test every case we make. If it leaks, we scrap it. We do this to give you the confidence that your phone or tablet is 100% protected".  So I thought, No worries, I will bring it to my Verizon Store and have it repaired or replaced.  I brought it there and they said I have to file a claim through Lifeproof.  I emailed the claim on Tuesday, with pictures in which I had to print out the sheet from the website to send over.  It said they would get back to me within 2 business days (48 hours).  No response. I called today, which is 4 business days after and they told me "Because I DID NOT register my case within 14 days of the purchase date, that I was NOT eligible to have my phone repaired, BUT they would send me a new case..LOL.. FIRST OF ALL, I was not AWARE that I had to register the case in order to be under warranty, I am not someone who reads "the fine print".  Second of all, If I knew about having to REGISTER my case on line, I wouldnt of bought it because by registering ANYTHING on line, you get SEVERAL emails regarding the product and commercial emails asking you to buy products!!! I completely lost it (Mentally).  I asked to talk to the supervisor, Gary (he couldnt give me his last name because he was not legally inclined to do so), and he told me that the case isnt meant to be in hazardous conditions, and they do not stand behind any water damage to the phone and i was not eligible for a new phone.  I told him my next plan of action was to file a complaint and take legal action so no one gets into the trouble like I am in.  My next visit is to Verizon, and if they do not stand by the product THAT THEY SELL IN THERE STORES, then I will be filing this under there name also.  DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!  I am an average Male who NEVER files complaints, but when its something very expensive to fix, and the company doesnt live up to there product that they say they do, then there will be a course of action so no one else gets this type of treatment!!  AGAIN, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Lifeproof case and I have NEVER had to worry about water. I did find though that you MUST register it in order to have the protection from them. I also found out that MOST consumers NEVER put the headphone protection on the case. THAT creates an opening for water. The case needs to be COMPLETLY assembled for THEM to replace YOUR phone. YOU even state it yourself, YOU are NOT a fine print kinda guy. There in is the problem. You assumed that it would be as easy as you walking in and BAM new phone. YOU are an adult, and you are an adult with children, I suggest that YOU read that fine print, because THAT fine print COULD impact your children one day. Look at the lesson YOU are teaching. YOU are taching that its OK to NOT read what YOU are signing. YOU are teaching that when YOU make a mistake its best to BLAME OTHERS. You claim its case failure, yet im 100% POSITIVE that your headphone port DID NOT have its protection on OR YOU just DID NOT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!! The instructions CLEARLY state two things. One is that YOU have to register to have the protection. Second is that there is a certain way to put this case together. If you DO NOT put this case together correctly, you WILL NOT have waterproofing. Then again, its ENTIRELY possible that it IS case failure, but as a retailer I can tell you that ONLY those ppl who DO NOT put the phone case together correctly are the ones who come back in whining about their phone. I CAN tell you this much, Verizon is going to push back at YOU when YOU try and take it in. Water Damage IS NOT covered by ANY warranty unless specifically noted. The manufacturer warranty is versus the quality of the build. Meaning if there was shoody workmanship on SAMSUNGs side, SAMSUNG would replace the phone. Verizon doesn't normally replace a phone AFTER you have gotten it wet. The ONLY option YOU have is to put the insurance on the phone through Verizon and then 30 days later claim it. However you MUST understand that course of action IS FRAUD!!!! And if Verizon suspects this fraud THEY are going to be VERY unhappy with YOU. They MAY go as far as cancelling YOUR contract JUST for the fraud. Then because YOU AGREED to it, YOU will have the full cost of the device AND service placed on YOU as punishment for that fraud. I really feel for you but you have to understand, there is SO MUCH wireless fraud!!! There is so much fraud because of the self entitled nature of the consumer. The average consumer will lie, cheat and steal to get their way and THEY JUSTIFY IT!!!! Oh its a massive corporation, THEY CAN TAKE THE HIT. So before YOU go in with proverbial guns blazing, make sure this IS NOT your fault. Make 100% sure that NOTHING you have done has caused this issue. If YOU have indeed caused this issue due to whatever reason, BE HONEST!!!!! Remember these people are TRAINED to spot wireless fraud and WET PHONE is lesson #2. Lesson #1 is STOLEN/LOST phone. I only know this because a good friend of mine worked for Verizon as a manager for YEARS!! So I got to hear about his daily interactions with ppl scamming.
