My wife ordered a product from Lillian Vernon over the phone. We were later charged for a service we did not authorize from MWI Connections. It's not alot, but, we never authorized the service.

I contacted Lillian Vernon and asked if they were aware that MWI was charging us after we purchased an item from them. This is the response I got:

Lillian Vernon Corporation is currently offering our customers the opportunity to purchase what we feel is an excellent family entertainment service at an extremely reasonable price. Memberworks-Connections offers significant savings on movie tickets and purchases at leading stores like Blockbuster, Barnes & Noble, Red Lobster and many more. Many customers are taking advantage of this opportunity.

This promotion is presented to our customers as they call, and as always, acceptance or denial is at their discretion. The offer is only applied to your telephone order with a verbal acceptance.

We never recieved a packet, phone call or anything suggesting we agreed to this "membership." A "verbal agreement!" How convenient. Unless I recorded the phone conversation, how can a prove or disprove my acceptance of this "service." Now Lillian Vernon wants me to call and cancel a service I never agreed to. I tried the number given and it states that I "must call 1 900...and the charge will be 1.50 per minute."

Lillian Vernon is just as fraudulent as MWI Connections, which if your reading this means you've read the hundreds of other compliants about them.

Be careful when ordering from Lillian Vernon.
