Not recommended for classic cars or brake kits. Brought a 67 Mustang to Danny's (owner of Lindsey's) shop to get a power front disc brake kit installed. Was quoted a price of $450 with the ensurance that I would receive a call if the price would need to increase due to any unforseen problems. Danny said he would only warranty the work, not the parts, and that is understandable. The kit was missing a part so we had to wait for it to come into his shop, that was very nice of him. I also believe that he did keep the car garaged. That being said, the rest of my experience with this Mechanic was unpleasant.

After the work was completed, he explained to me the problems they had with installing this kit for wheel clearance. Ultimately I was told that the job was completed succesfuly and it was time to pay. He started out by telling me that they spent 16 hours on this and were only going to charge 8 hours of labor, at a rate of $85 an hour. After much haggling, and insisting that he could have called me for any mistakes or problems that had occured, he reluctantly agreed to the original price and I paid.

The very next week I took the car back to show him the problems we were having after the installation. The front end squeaked extremely loud, the passenger side was on bottom (as if the spring was non existent), and one of the windshield moldings was missing (not such a big deal). After showing him the car, he did not offer to fix anything without more money. His explanation was other parts not pertaining to the install and it would be around $1400 to fix.

After this I went to another Professional Mechanic and thank god I did. This guy is honest and immediately saw problems with the install. On top of that, he corrected the timing, fixed the carberator, fixed the knocking engine, replaced an oil pump, etc. and only charged me $200 for all of this work. I called Lindseys to ask what could be done to correct the "installation" problems of the callippers rubbing the brand new rotors. Danny insisted it was not their fault (while cursing at me), reminded me that he will not warranty the parts, and if he has to look at it again and find nothing wrong (with their work) it will cost me more money for the labor. I politely reminded him that I all ready brought it by once and there were no offers to fix the first problems. Also, the parts are fine and if they were installed CORRECTLY there would be no problems. Not to mention that these are Mag 500 14" Wheels. Here is a link to Manatee Mustang for the excellent reviews and easy installation for the very same kit on the very same wheels and the very same year, make, and model car.

I told him that I appreciate the work they did, even though a lot of it is being redone now, but I will not be bringing any other business to this shop. The call ended with him hanging up on me. My opinion of this shop is the same as others have warned me about it. It's no surprise to say that this mechanic was just trying to get more money out of me. Proof of this can easily be found in the quote from the honest Mechanic who is doing the work now. That $1400 price that Danny quoted for the front end work is now $400 with this Professional Mechanic .... what a surprise.
