I purchased a 2009 Toyota Corolla from Lipton Toyota in 2009. At the time of purchase, the car was classified as "certified pre- owned". The car had about 1,500 miles on it at the time of purchase.

I financed the car as a five year loan though Lipton Toyota. I was told by the finance specialist that my interest rate would be 7%.

About a year later, when I read the fine print on the contact, I realized that my interest rate was in fact 7.36%. When I called Lipton, I was told that the extra .36% was a standard addition even though it was not what was verbally agreed upon.

My second issue with Lipton is the service contract which I purchased. I was told that the package I purchased (came to about $15 a month) would include include oil changes and tire rotations every 5,000  miles until the loan was paid off.

I recently took the car (now has 42,000 miles on it) in for an oil change and was denied service under the warranty i purchased. I was told that the oil change/ tire rotations were only covered up to 36,000 miles.

I told the sales manager that was not what I was told at the time of purchase. In fact, I only purchased the warranty package because I thought it was a good deal to have free oil changes for 5 years.

The sales manager than told me the person who sold me the service contract was no longer employed by them and there was nothing he could do for me.

go to the consumeraffairs website and read through all of the complaints from Toyota owners.

If you scroll down to Brittany's complaint on June 16, 2007, you can read where her airbags did not deploy in her Toyota Corolla. She plowed into another vehicle going about 45-50 MPH when the accident occurred, according to her complaint.

There are more complaints from Toyota owners whose airbags did not deploy. Simply 'Google' this- CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT TOYOTA AIRBAGS, and go to the consumeraffairs website and you can read all of them.

Good luck to you.

JUSTIN, OUR ENTIRE SYSTEM IN AMERICA IS CORRUPT. THAT IS WHY.....

we had a financial meltdown in September of 2008. The corrupt banking cartel controls the U.S. Government and Wall Street. Almost every business that deals with financing, in order to sell products and services, relies on deception and manipulation when dealing with and making sales to consumers.

An 'automobile' and a 'house' are the two biggest purchases that most Americans make in their lifetime. Take a look at how these two purchases were, and still are made, in this country.

Simply 'Google' the following videos and watch them on the web for proof-

2) COUNTRYWIDE WHISTLEBLOWER REPORTS LIAR LOANS

3) FRONTLINE: INSIDE THE MELTDOWN

Unfortunately, the United States of America has turned into a country whose foundation is solidly built on lies, deception, fraud, manipulation, greed, trickery, deep corruption, and the constant pursuit to financially injure the innocent people living here and all over the world.

Good luck to you.

What do you mean "a year later  I read the fine print"? Why not until a year later?

Why?

My question about the warranty was not in reference to the service that was performed. I wanted to know why the OP purchased a service contract on a car that had only 1500 miles on it.

Even though the written contract is all that matters legally, I would never go to a dealership where they verbally lie to you.

Regarding the Toyota manufacturer warranty

The additional warranty coverage for the free service would have been a third party contract, either direct through the dealer, the lender, or with a third party warranty service. The standard Toyota warranty wouldn't cover such things.

As Ken said, what's written on the contract covering the free service dictates the terms.

on the web.

That is how most Toyota dealerships in the USA, along with many other dealerships, operate when selling and leasing cars and trucks to consumers in America.

Our entire system in America, including Wall Street and the U.S. Government, is based on lies, deception, fraud, manipulation, greed, trickery, deep corruption, and the constant pursuit to financially injure the innocent and unsuspecting people in the USA. (It's the main reason that our country is collapsing.)

Good luck to you.

You bought a 2009 car in 2009 so wouldn't it still be under the manufacturer's warranty? Did you ask the dealer if Toyota transfers the warranty to the second owner?

What does your copy of the warranty say?

The reason for WRITTEN contracts is to prevent this very he said/she said type of thing.

Your sales contract, signed by you, also is what governs all details of the sale.

To clarify, VERBAL contracts are worth the paper they're written on.
