I was contacted by Liquid Sky to perform Stilt walking services dressed as Uncle Sam for 2 events. The First on 10/31/2015 (1 hr) and the second on 11/3/2015. (4 hrs)

I spent $200 on a costume, $30 on fabric, and 2 nights sewing parts for the costume. They offered me the rate of $130 an hr for the booking (All tho my standard friend rate is $150).  The Total they agreed to pay me was $650

I arrived and did an exceptional job, The client loved it! She gave me a big hug and thank yous!

During the booking, a second person approached me and asked if I would like to work for them after this booking.  To which I said "I will have to check with my contractor and will let you know". This was at about 9am, and they wanted me to do a second set at noon. When I got off my stilts around 10 I call the only number listed in the contract as the person I was authorized to call, they did not answer, I sent a text as well.

The second client was in a rush to book, so I said yes to them. And agreed to $175 an hr (*A very fair mark up, leaving $45 an hr extra to be paid as a commission to Liquid Sky).

I went to lunch and returned for the 12pm set, when walking back I ran into the first client who said I better charge the new client the full amount of $350 an hr.

So, Liquid Sky was marking up my services to $350 an hr, and paying me $130, despite knowing my rate was at least $150 an hr. :/ But, thats ok, as I made my deal for $130, what they charge is up to them.

Finally about 30 min into the second booking, I got a call back from Liquid Sky . I told them of the booking, thinking they would be happy that were getting extra money for not having to do anything, however on they phone they got mad, threatened breach of contract and law suits.

After the event I set a full email outlining all that happened and requested payment  (I have done many bookings with Liquid Sky, so felt conferable accepting payment after the fact. Big Mistake on my part).

Liquid Sky refused to pay my the total owed of $515 ($130 an hr x 5 hrs = $650 - $135 the booking commission they asked for). Instead Liquid Sky went to a lawyer and charged me the Lawyer fees, now from the $1400 + they billed the client for my services, Liquid Sky was/is only offering to pay me $295.

I spent almost that amount on the costume alone, gave them friend prices, and they treat a long time performing connection like this.

Despite a lot of emails back and forth, they now are say to stop harassing them (*by harassing, Me asking them to pay their bill), and refusing to pay any more.

This is not a right way to treat friends, and fellow performing artists.  I do not want to post things like this, but until actions like this are brought to light, people and companies like this will keep taking advantage of and bully artists.
