I went onto Craigslist looking to buy a vehicle. On the site I found a 2006 Nissan Frontier for sale at $3,000.00. I thought this was too good to be true, but emailed the member about the vehicle. She emailed me back saying that she was a Military Member getting ready to deploy and that she would be working with eBay Motors to go through the payment process and sell the vehicle to me.

I received an email from eBay Motors that looked legit and had a case number and everything. I started the process and was having difficulties making the payments to them because they wanted me to use Reloadit cards that you have to buy from a store and then send the card numbers to them for the payment. I tried doing this but found out it wouldn't work and then was given a way to pay through MoneyGram.

During this whole thing, I contacted the seller to send me the VIN so that I could run a CARFAX report on the vehicle to see if there was anything reported. She sent me an AutoCheck Report on the vehicle. On this report, it showed that the vehicle had no accidents and was in great condition. What caused me to be suspicious was that there were event dates on this report older than 2006. I ran my own CARFAX report and found that there was an accident reported on the vehicle, and that it was a 2007 Nissan, not a 2006.

This caused me to do some more research on this and I discovered that on this site, a similiary person had gone through the exact same problem and had lost $2100 to this scam. I want to get this out there so that people do not fall for this scam and that you should always check out everything if it seems too good to be true.
