I was really enjoying this site for a couple of months, really liked sending and receiving things from all over the world. Very user friendly. Unfortunately, my account was suspended for reasons that were not true. They said that I was bidding on my own auctions to "funnel" credits. This came about because my son bid on one of my auctions to win something for his girlfriend for Valentine's Day. He has his own account, that he was logged into from his own phone. They said that we had the same IP address. There is no way in the world that this is true. There is something seriously wrong with their system that would allow them to think that.

It is not a scam or a rip off site, but they have problems that still need to be worked out. So do not get too involved, sending your goodies all over the world because if they shut off your account, you lose everything.

I had over 16,000 credits from auctioning off my items and I ever paid cash out of my own pocket to ship to the winner. My son had 100,000 credits from selling his iphone, ipods and ps3 games. All lost to a system malfunction.

I asked them to semd me proof that we used the same IP address, they said they couldn't. I am sure they couldn't because it didnt happen.

I too bad my account frozen and then taken from me. I had me a account through my th account. I had been with Listia since the first day. I had earned all badges. I had won first place badges. I was listed as a top seller. I hadn't played in a few months due to family illness. I still occasionally sold a few items to keep my account active. I Never Had A Complaint. I had all good reviews. Some of my auctions were sponsored by Listia. I was even a help out. I was a moderate for 3years. I told them I could no longer help out. I left to take care and help my daughter who was on her rest.  So back. Been a few months I decided to place a few auctions and decided to try and win a few items. Two weeks into it. They flagged my account. Some new moderate said someone using my account tried to buy bid on my own auction. It never happened. The Times they said I bought from my own account I had not been on listia for 4months.

It was ridic!ous. We went back and forth for months. They froze my points. I probably had about $200.000.00 in money savsd. Some news person I talked to said the company' went through new changes. Had new people working with them. I filed a complaint about what had happened. Long story short they played me some back. They were ordered to pay more than what I asked for. It was 1 year ago that I got a payment from them.

It's sad cause list is started out being really greeat. Then scammers took it over. People would try to say items that I had sent never arrived but mine you had to sign for. I never lost  a complaint case against me until the last time. Wish you luck. There is more people who got screwed from this company. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down. I did sell on yardsellr. If u remember that? I sell on EBay for hrs and never have a problem.

If the IP address would change while switching in between service provider & wifi, then you may have pin pointed the problem. I wouldn't have imagined that the IP address would have changed.

He won the auction with the high bid of 4,000 credits.Combined, we lost over 116,000 credits for a 4,000 credit auction. It is not even logical to think that we would risk losing so much over so little.

There is no rule at Listia that states that someone you know cannot bid on a item. There IS a rule that says that you cannot contact people outside of Listia and accept cash for a listed item. Following that rule, how do you respond to someone that you know that wants.something you have listed on Listia? "Sorry son, I cannot sell you this item or let you bid on it. Guess I will have to give it to a total stranger" That's bs.

If it happened alot, or for a ridiculous amount of credits, I can see raising an eyebrow, but a measly 4,000 credits?? Really?? Dollar for dollar, we lost $290 (116,000) worth of credits for $10 (4,000).

The manager actually said to me that someone logged into my device and placed bids on my auction.

My account and my auctions were 100% legit following every rule. It is upsetting to think thay something as stupid as a cellphone switching to wifi for internet would result in my account being suspended. How could I possibly have stopped that from happening??

Would you at agree that having your own son bidding on your auctions at the very least looks like shill bidding?  Most auction sites would certainly see it that way.   While you can come up with a reason why an immediate family member would be bidding on your auction, so can the people who are actually engaged in shill bidding.   In other words, the actions that transpired are exactly what shill bidding looks like.  If you don't want to be treated like a cheater, you have to avoid actions that make you look like one.

" They said that we had the same IP address. There is no way in the world that this is true. "

I doubt that.   I can think of many ways that this could be true.   The most common would be that your son's phone uses your wireless Internet connection when it's available, to avoid racking up data charges on his data plan.   That would result in identical IP addresses.   There are other ways, but you get the picture.   It's by no means impossible and since they were able to connect your son's bidding to your auction, it is actually quite likely how they did it.
