After months of research, In June 2005 I bought a BRAND NEW Volkswagen Passat. I did this so I would not have any "used car" problems and the salesman was very assuring that customers drive off of the lot with "top of the line, 100% perfect, customer guarenteed" cars.

Much to my surprise I ended up taking my brand new car in FOUR times in the first four weeks - which equalled at least 7 days of me without my car. I drove a new car off the lot with a broken trunk, panic button, and solar panel. As a result of replacing parts and modules, I ended up having to make yet ANOTHER visit to get my key reprogrammed. And halfway home I ended up turning right back around because it didn't work at all, STILL.

At one point I ended up with a rental car that I had to pay taxes on because of the fact that I bought a brand new car for a ridiculous amount of money that was broken and now I was paying for it. Which meant my salesman didn't do his checks to ensure I was driving a "100% perfect" car off the lot.

The service department did not have good service, and at one point one of their service workers told me "This job sucks a*s" as he rolled his eyes at a customer on the phone. I was also told by numerous employees I dealt with that people were walking off the job and they didn't have enough employees to do the work. Well I wonder why - could it be the very unhappy customers?!

My best advice, do not buy a car from Lithia Volkswagon of Reno because the moment you sign your name on the dotted line they could care less about your problems or what they can do to ensure they have a happy customer. My first car buying experience from them was AWFUL.

It's VW that building those POS. Lithia's just selling them. Leased a 2001 Jetta for 3 years for my wife.(She thought it was cute)In 32 years of cars, I've never seen so many things go wrong on a new vehicle. That POS had a 2 year warranty. The last 8 months it sat in the garage and didn't get driven. Every time we went in for an oil change, the dealer would give us a couple page long list of things they had to repair/replace under warranty, which sometimes amounted to a $1000. Every time. Things I'd never heard of before. The most famous was the electric windows. In 2 years the car went back 7 times. Dropped it off Fri. morning, got it back Mon. afternoon. Left home Tues. morning and the windows broke again. They finally replaced the plastic things with a metal things, which solved that. It wouldn't have mattered where you bought, you'd still have the same problems. By the way, where was your vehicle made? Our's was down south of here a ways.
