I visited this home on 10/08/09 to pick out my beautiful puppy. The stench in the home was awful, four puppies who were born just six weeks ago were in a cardboard box in the living room of the home. Ruth told me that the puppies were taken off of their mother at 3 weeks due to an illness in the mother. I asked to then see the other puppies that were listed on the website. She took me out back to a kennel that was uncovered with two igloos doghouse and 7 or 8 puupies inside. No food or water in sight! No cover over the top of the kennel. These puppies were shaking and when called ran to the back of the kennel. I stepped inside the kennel to call them and the whole bottom of the kennel was covered in animal feces. At the rear of the property were about 6 more kennels with alot of adult dogs. I have never seen a puppy mill before so could not accurately call Little Angel Paws that but this woman should be made to live like these poor animals are living. I wish I could have taken them all from her, just to spare them the tortue that they are going through. No animal deserves to live like this.

I stand by what I said when I visited her home with all of the puppies. As far as wood chips and feces being cleared daily, the wood chips may be cleared as there were none in evidence but much of the other. The references that she has given in her rebuttal are from 2007 and 2008, maybe she didn't have a puppy mill then. From what I witnessed, all I can say is maybe she would like to have a representative from the animal protection agency in her area come to her facility and certify that it is indeed fit for animals. Buyer beware! I visited two other breeders in the Marshfield area and the conditions at those two were like the Ritz Carlton compared to her Skid Row.

Our Puppy
Our new little puppy is perfect in every way, he truly is a blessing in our lives, the Martins have answered all my questions that I ever have had, the Martins e-mailed us up date pictures of the our puppy. When we received our puppy, he was and still is very loving and just perfect. If I would buy another dog, I would not go with anyone else except the Martins, They are wounderful!!

Lucy arrived less than a week ago and we ALL are in Love with her. She's just perfect. Would highly recommend anyone to purchase a puppy from the Martins. You can obviously tell they spent alot of time with her. She not afraid of a thing-and loves everyone. Audra

healthy and happy and all she does is smile. She is wonderful with other people, children and adults and great with other dogs. My vet gave her a full check up and says that she is very healthy and happy. They are wonderful breeders and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another dog from them. As a reputable, non-commercial dog breeder that has been in business since May of 2006 without a single complaint, this article has definitely taken me by surprise. Given the conditions at the time of Mrs. Wilson's visit, I can certainly understand some of her misguided concerns. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify some severe misunderstandings.
The basement in my home is the location of our welping house as well as the base of our home's furnace. We use wood chips on the floors of the area where our newest little angels are growing. The odor of the wood chips is quickly absorbed into pretty much the entire house when we are using the heater or the air conditioning. Rest assured that the welping area, along with all of the kennels, is cleaned of feces and old wood chips on a daily basis.
It is accurate that we had four puppies in the living room, kept in a 4' by 2', 18" deep tub(as opposed to the cardboard box mentioned above) that was heated via a heating pad located under the tub. Because their mother was afflicted with bladder stones, a common ailment among cats and dogs, she was unable to feed the puppies herself. We took it upon ourselves to feed them by hand at regular intervals, which made it necessary to have them readily accessible, hence, the living room set up.
Before we had gone outside, it had just rained, yet again(this past October was reported as one of Missouri's wettest months on record). The "feces" that were covering the ground were, in fact, mud and the two igloos that contained the seven puppies were made to hold large dogs of around 125 pounds and, therefore, have plenty of room to shelter all of the toy puppies between them, plus some. All of the puppies are fed at least twice a day. It is unfortunate that they happened to be out at the time she visited.
Rest assured to all who read this that my establishment is nowhere near being a puppy mill. All of our dogs and puppies are treated with exceptional love and care and spend time on a daily basis being spoiled by any one of my four children or myself. All of the puppies are certified healthy by a veterinarean (And this can be verified by the veterinarean); we have yet to have had one declared unhealthy. Anyone who is considering purchasing a puppy is more than welcome to check on any of my many references and even come and see for themselves!
