My fiance and I have had our son registered with this daycare facility since January of this year. On Monday after work, he picked our son and was sent home with a little slip of paper that stated that if we didn't bring in $450 on the following day, we would not be able to drop our son off at daycare.

Every two weeks, this facility gets a check from us for $300 to cover their cost of daycare. We have never missed a payment. We both went to the facility the next morning to speak with the "director". She indicated that we have always paid on time and in full. She also indicated that the "owner" has created a ledger that shows our balance owing. I was completed astounded when I saw the ledger now showed $1080 due from us. The "director" added that she knows this entire fiasco is a mistake, but she was yelled at by the "owner" and was told to collect the money.

We have gone as far as to gather ALL cancelled checks proving our payments with exception to several checks that were wrote back in January and May from a bank account that we closed. Now in order get those checks, we have to pay the bank per hour for getting the copy of those checks. At this point, its frustrating because the onus should not have to be on us because their bad accounting practices.

This brings me to my next issue. I found out today that this daycare chain located in Gladstone, Missouri was closed down last month I believe by the State due uncleanly conditions. I am left wondering whether the owner is padding her pocket for the lack of income she was receiving from that location....

We are not the only family at this location harrassed by this issue. There are some who have paid by cash and have no proof of receipt and are in this mess far worse than we are. Is there no justice? The cost to retain an attorney outweigh the benefit here. Can anyone help us?
